A quick and fun puzzle game, with good voice acting and an interesting concept.

Very short though. The story is beatable in about 4 hours.

Get it on sale when it's about 75% off!

So 65 hours in and I don't recommend it? It's not a good PUZZLE game. A lot is simply based on RNG - will you get the rooms, the items, the positions - and not much is based on actually puzzling it out.

The game suggest certain things will do certain things, but if you make the mistake of thinking DEEPLY about then you'll miss the forest for the trees.

My girlfriend and I have played this together, took numerous notes, and poured over text and images and not figured stuff out. Then we watch a streamer or YTer do the same room and have them handed the simplest, most brain-dead answer for the solve and it just deflates you.

The rogulelite element being the sell of this game is simply the biggest drawback. Do you get the room, the item, the layout to solve this specific puzzle? No, well reset and do it again because screw you and your time.

It's an intriguing idea, poorly executed, wrapped with supposed intrigue, that ultimately is basically realized at, maybe, a highschool level of intelligence.

If you're looking at something to tax your critical thinking avoid this, if you're interested to see what an RNG puzzle game is, by all means, fill your boots.

It's interesting, started out fun, but ultimately is nothing special.

I might suck at it, but it's still easier and a little more forgiving than HoH1.

Actually feel like I'm making progress, even if I change characters.

Hopefully the devs can keep tweaking it and updating it unlike the train-wreck that was Hammerwatch 2...

Played it for a couple of hours, and I must admit, I have zero idea what's going on. No idea what most of the skills really do, what my stats are... I just click, slap buttons, hope things die.

I'm not sure if it's good or bad as far as Warhammer goes, but it's so far an "okay" ARPG.

I'm sure I'll give it more time as I picked it up super cheap, but beyond getting through the campaign I'm not sure I'll stick around.

Early Access Review
In it's current state the game is hideously boring. It requires oodles of mods to make it even vaguely bearable, but ultimately you're just wandering about trying to keep happy, fed, and watered.

Currently there's something missing from the game to make it actually fun, and not just a real life simulator with added zombies.

Maybe future builds will sort it out, but if it's been 11 years and this is the state of it, I have my doubts.

I recommend it as a fun looter shooter, but...

Some of the player base is heavily toxic. There's some weird expectation to have (what they consider) THE BEST build, but they don't take in to consideration how much time you've spent upgrading your specific descendant. There isn't enough time in a year to have a decent build for all the possibilities.

People like to complain that you're taking Descendant X in to fight Y because fight Y has high resistances to that character, but they don't take in to account that most of your damage comes from shooting bullets. Any extras like Fire, Electric, Toxic are just nice extras after-the-fact. They're not the main things... I was still doing 30-40 million FPS in fights with bosses who are supposedly "Very Strong" to my character.

There are a lot of idiots who don't use their brains, half of which join missions and idle trying to leech experience.

It's free, try it out. Whilst some of the RNG is a bit ick, the devs do appear to be listening and trying to make it slightly less tedious, but I'm sure they'll try and find other ways to penny-pinch.

It's fun and simple sure, but after a handful of runs I don't want to go back to it.

I like these sorts of games, but it's just a bit TOO simple to keep me interested.

Game has barely changed in 12 years... dropped back in to it time and again and it's still the same jank it's always been (albeit with some minor visual improvements), and making certain aspects of the game (like getting clean water) have stupid mechanics.

If you want it get it now before they increase the price, because it's definitely not worth $45.

Firstly my play time is wrong. I had no internet for 2 weeks and basically just played this for something like 60 hours.

The combat is surprisingly fun even if a bit janky and there are some stupidly OP attacks that trivialise lots of it.

Besides that the story is fairly poor, writing and voice acting is meh.

The vast majority of gameplay is padded with kill X quests, or running from point A to point B to point A again.

If you're interested get it when it's massively discounted.

Another online game releasing and the servers not being able to handle it. Yea, demand is high, but they knew it would be considering the hype it built up in the genre.

Just more devs trying to do online stuff that have no idea what they're doing.

I played the game quite a bit in Early Access, and it wasn't anything super special. It's definitely not the amazing thing fans want you to believe it is. It's fun for a while, then you get end-game and it's the same tired issues other ARPGs tend to suffer from: intense repetitiveness with little real reward for spending your time doing it.

Give it some time to fix it's issues, round off it's content (as some is still missing from what I understand), and hopefully expand the end-game.
