nominating this for labor of love since i'm constantly blown away by how much people push the limits of community levels and make some really cool stuff, and the dev really cares. been addicted to the gameplay since i was 11 and it kinda maybe sorta hijacked my life but my recovery has been insurmountable.

finally, a youtuber game that doesn't suck
buckshots isn't trying to be any more than it is, it's a relatively simple risk game with some strategy involved, and it's trying to be the absolute best version of that it can. even when the odds beat you, even when you lose due to luck, the gameplay feels completely fair. you signed up knowing that's what it comes down to once you maximize your strategy. the theme and aesthetics are perfectly crafted for a game like this, and really went above and beyond with the techno soundtrack, it bops and fits so well. $3 would seem fair even if you took out everything that went into putting this idea at its full potential, for what it is it's a killer price.

super thought provoking, this game is what got me really thinking about what art actually is, and still kind of defines how i think about it now.

it's as if the game thinks it can make itself less of a disappointment by making fun of the fact that it's a disappointment. having watched a playthrough of the original before i was able to play it for myself, i was really looking forward to being able to discover a bunch of new endings on my own, i was on this game's mailing list for years before it came out, really excited for this. but after a few extra corridors transitioning to the new version, with some funny gags and writing, all there really was were just modified versions of the already existing endings. i'd seriously recommend saving yourself the ten bucks and just getting the original for a more authentic experience, unless you really really need some of the new accessibility features.

it has atmosphere. story. you're alone in abandoned cyberpunk space, and you have to be fast, your life depends on it. but it doesn't waste a single second to explain any of that, you don't need any further context. it's all communicated non-verbally in a really cool way.
it's a totally sick experience, on both the screen and in vr. full disclosure, i'm pretty much immune to vr motion sickness, and i can imagine this would be a pretty nauseating game for some people. but i'd say it's just as good on the screen as well, just turn off your lights lol.
my only issue is that while the gameplay is mostly high-stress, high satisfaction, you'll occasionally find yourself on a frustratingly tricky piece of track, effectively ruining it. that can lead to anger, just wanting to get back to that sense of zen, which will affect the player's performance, leaving them unable zone out again until they take a break. this issue could possibly be alleviated if the developers were to revise a few track sections, and/or allow players to fully utilize the car's abilities on all tracks, even if that means it's possible to cheese a few parts. i think that the majority of players would still follow the intended path regardless, and if they don't, it'd be because they find their path more fun.
it's not a very long game, and the price is a bit much for a single playthrough. it does have a level editor, albeit with a bit of a learning curve. but if there's a good deal on this game, absolutely go for it.

if you liked the premise of papers please, being able to affect the story's events through small choices in gameplay, but found it too boring, difficult, and/or tedious to follow through with that, this is that game to scratch that itch. it has a super immersive world with its own politics and issues, throwing in talented and entertaining live actors. i'd just recommend playing on a low difficulty since i found the story and video to be the more intriguing part. they also crafted this in such a way that different players would form different views and opinions on certain characters. which also leaves the door open for replayability, or just wreaking havoc on the world if that's your thing! really i don't have anything bad to say about this game, pretty much if the trailer intrigues you, it's worth every dollar.

This experience confused me when I first played it, but it really started playing with my emotions the more I thought about it as time went on. Great artistic piece about my greatest fears, which I'm sure many other people share.
