Successfully replicates the spirit of the classic lucasarts adventure games... just not the very good ones.

Which is frustrating because the voice acting and dialogue are high quality, the art and animation are pretty great and there are inventory combination puzzles.

Unfortunately it's just not funny. Or interesting. Had it been I'd have forgiven the two mid-game puzzles that were irritatingly obtuse, but my enjoyment never recovered.

This was a hard edit and some jokes away from being excellent. Unfortunately it's just fine.

I really wish this had some puzzles or choices or something, but even as a fairly non-interactive experience it was fantastic.

Great art, sound and characters.

The gameplay is pretty basic (though mechanically decent) and the world isn't huge, but everything else is great - art, vocals, music, performance, story. I'd play 100 hours of this just to explore more of (/a denser version of) the world.

I'm not sure I agree with the in-game time limit, but this is inarguably deep and extremely well written. It's not many games that have me considering an immediate replay to find out more

An appropriate conclusion to this series, true to the essence of the originals; nice environments, ♥♥♥♥ all else.

I bothered to play 1-3 because this looked good enough to be worth the slog through some poorly-aged predecessors, but this turned out to be the worst of the lot. At least the old ones supply some adventure game design nostalgia.

This has nothing but (quite) nice graphics. The story is so thin it's embarrassing, and incredibly tedious and uninteresting. There isn't a single engaging character, and all of the dialogue, frequently poorly read, is cringeworthy. The moment-to-moment pacing is S T I L L S O S L O W, like it wants you to pause to consider its majesty.

I'd happily overlook all this if there was gameplay worth mentioning, but instead you get a single 'find the buttons in the right order' puzzle per chapter, like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tribute to a tenth of The Room's first level.

This series seems always to have been overrated, and this faithful modernisation of it has really hammered home how I shouldn't have wasted my time with it.

This sat in my backlog for a while because at least at the start it's 100% less relaxing than every other Amanita game. Once you're about 10 levels in and have got used to the puzzle logic it's great though, and still fairly challenging in places. Art / music / strange monster noises are all as good as ever.

Irritatingly random puzzle solutions combined with twee artstyle and themes. Overrated.

What's here is really nice; art style, audio (bonus points for mogwai les revenants vibes) and exploration are all good. But (sorry i can't help myself) for a game about collecting eldritch horrors from the sea it's lacking a bit of depth.

Still, 24 hours of decent evil fishing gameplay - can't complain too much.

Aside from the quite nice late-90s pre-rendered backgrounds (with a few surprise flourishes like reflections and unexpectedly good animations) I don't really see why this series gets so much love.

It must have seemed dated even when the first one came out (so many puzzle solutions are just hidden off-screen and about 50% of your time is spent transitioning SLOWLY back and forward between unnecessary empty scenes).

The voice acting is cliched at best and confusingly bad at worst, the structure is repetitive.

Interesting point and click archaeology, but apart from the unique art vibes this has aged really badly.
