I want to like this game, I love tower defense but this game just doesn't hit the itch.

My biggest issue with the game is the map design, the game desperately needs proper lanes or funnels where you can set up defenses, the later levels become an absolute mess of enemies spawning from 4 different directions with levels that are too open, so the winning strat is putting all your characters around the shrine maiden in a circle. It doesn't really feel like a tower defense game.

Along with that there are a lot of (in my opinion) useless characters or classes that do the same thing with different flavor, the sumo wrestler is almost detrimental to you because he constantly pushes enemies out of range, the marksman is a more expensive archer that does more damage while shooting slower, to the point I can't tell if there's even any difference in their dps, especially since the archer is far cheaper to max out in the skill tree. Same exact thing with the lumberjack and the spearman.

There are definitely things to like about this game and I hope it gets polished, it's just really not worth 50 euro and considering the peak player counts on steam I feel like this game will be abandoned fairly quickly.

This feels like a very condensed version of Elden Ring with nearly all of the filler cut out, the blessing system is great for rewarding and encouraging exploration and it baffles me people are complaining about it so heavily, I guess people don't really want to play the game and want to get it over with as soon as possible.

I personally prefer the current damage numbers and hope they don't change it, the people crying about high damage are too used to being able to tank 25 hits from every boss in the game with no challenge, currently it feels like dark souls with more punishing combat where you actually have to learn boss patterns instead of face tanking every hit in bull-goat armor without a remote chance of actually dying. Related to dying, the DLC is fantastic with stake of marika and grace placement where you have zero run back on almost every boss and can instantly get back to fighting.

Fix the performance though, why is this game still locked at 60 fps and how does it not manage to run it stably in a lot of areas?

Extremely fun game held back by technical limitations because of a bizarre engine choice almost two decades ago. Once you get over the early learning curve by playing or in my case watching others play, you unlock a unique one of a kind sandbox no other game replicates.

The big downsides like I said are related to the OGRE engine, the load times are extremely annoying when you get characters that run at 55 mph and npc's will randomly decide to walk through your walls directly into your base. If you're going to play I HIGHLY recommend giving the following mods a try, they're somewhat annoying to install but improve the experience tenfold:

RE_Kenshi
Optimization for Nvidia GPU in Kenshi
Particle System Override (PSO)
Kenshi Performance Fix

If you're having issues with long loading times when loading in new chunks these mods will make it 3-5 times faster, especially when playing with overhaul mods.

Ignore the reading comprehension of most reviews on the game right now, the dlc is classic capcom of selling you ingame items that you don't actually need to pay money for. You can get pretty much everything ingame.

That aside Dragon's Dogma 1 is one of my favorite games of all time and so far this game is just more Dragon's Dogma.

If I could review something as mixed I would, because the performance is kind of poor even on my beefy for 2021 rig.

Fantastic game, by far the best point and click game I've seen, even for people normally not into these types of games. I know I sure wasnt before playing this game.

Originally beat the game before the Final Cut version, played it again after the update and man, they made a great game even better. Even with knowing the twists and turns the journey to the end was more than worth the replay.

This game was made by one of the largest video game companies to date, yet it can't manage to fill a 16 man team deathmatch lobby after 5 minutes of waiting. Even during the free weekend. The multiplayer is utterly dead.

Also who in the ♥♥♥♥ thought it was a good idea to remove the most popular game mode in cod (S&D).
