It's weird how much Strange Journey vibes this game gives me, down to the difficulty it reminds me the first time I went through Sector Grus but not nearly as annoying.
That is to say the game is pretty solid on gameplay department, the press turn system is very similar to the ones found in other SMTs, the music is really good (again a lot of Strange Journey vibes from it) and the story has been intriguing so far.
I will update this review down the line when I finish the game, but right now this game is a recommend for any turn based rpg fan.

Before you buy, as other people mentioned the Square Enix account system is very frustrating to deal with.

Now if you gone through the page and gone to the reviews and thought "These guys are going to be biased, they all have 1000 hours plus!", and that's a problem in general with MMOs, you can't exactly judge or have a clear metric of them in just 10 hours, and it's really bad to have to tell "Don't worry, after A Realm Reborn it gets really good!", that's about 120 hours into the game to get to the "good part".

In my personal opinion, combat isn't engaging until level 70, that's the closest you get to having most of your abilities but depending on the class you're going to be lacking extra options and combos. So with all this said can I recommend the game in good faith?

Yeah, luckily for many people the meme about the Free Trial really is a blessing, you can get up to the level 70 so you will have a good grasp on the combat, and you get about 400+ hours of free content to play without dropping a dime, so if you're on the fence if you're going to like it or not you can just try it out.

Is it fun? Yes, very much so, it is a completely unbalanced experience, since some characters can do a touch of death on you, some people even call one of the bosses time stop mechanic as "Robbery Time", the problem at the end of the day is if the negatives can surpass the positives, and I would say I stand on the middle with this game.

This is a case of a game that desperately needs some updates and balance updates, but we got radio silence since the release and very little news about the future of the game. If this game got some more content it would be worth the asking price, but right now, see this game as a nice little "curiosity" offer. It does something no other fighting game offers and it really depends on what you think if it is worth. Be warned that the playerbase is quite small at the moment I write this, so you might not find people to play with.

You know how games usually struggle from going to 2D to 3D, some games make it out superbly well like from Super Mario to Mario 64, A Link to the Past to Ocarina of Time, Metal Gear to Metal Gear Solid... And we have games that fail horribly like Sonic to Sonic 06.

This fortunately is the case that it went well, the transition was silky smooth and the gameplay still holds up and, the reason why I'm updating my early access review, it's the fact that they are hitting a big stride on their roadmaps goals, big props to the developers for delivering so much high quality stuff.

Edit from the Early Access: They delivered everything they promised, extremely worth it.

Now, this is a hard choice to make since there is X7 in this collection, and we all know how this story goes.

X5: It plays just fine, soundtrack is good and it gave X Vs. Zero theme that is one of the most iconic in the franchise, bosses are fun and the difficulty curve is not so bad. Sub weapons follows the trend of the last game for most of them being absolute useless and one or two being good. For nitpicky moment here, I hate X5 for backtracking you need to do, you need to repeat DUFF MCWHALEN LEVEL 3 TIMES IF YOU WANT TO GET ALL THE THINGS THERE, it is stupid and I really hate it. In addition, the Gun's n Roses references are gone if you liked that.

X6: NO JP OPENING HERE, WHICH IT WAS ARGUALABLY ONE OF THE BEST THINGS HERE. Everyone knows the story of X6 by now of how it is one the worst games in the franchise, of how they repeat the same mini boss three times in a row or how the game is hard and it adds the Nightmare System, which is their excuse for anything that happens there.
Great soundtrack.
Cheesy translation.
Also has one of the best movesets Zero had, it is hard to recommend the game but I give it a pass since you will not be bored by it. (You will want to throw your keyboard/controller on the wall)

X7: No.
In addition, it has a criminally underrated soundtrack; it is good give it a listen later.
The best thing that came out from this game was Axl and the Soundtrack, the game isn't as bad as Sonic 06, but it's still pretty awful but definitely playable, give it a shot if you have a morbid curiosity.

X8: Has the same problems as X5 on backtracking, especially if you want to buy all the upgrades from the Force Medal Shop. Nevertheless, this game I would put it on the top reason for you to buy the second half of the collection, the 2.5D its nicely done, good soundtrack, a more in-depth partner system that is actually good.
In addition, no JP opening, which is sad.

So people are giving really long reviews talking about problems, while I do note that there is a input lag since I used to speedrun these games I must tell, they are not as bad as people make it seem. I also tested launching the game without an internet connection and I was able to play it just fine... So maybe they fixed it.

As for the games:

X1: Great pacing, great design, great power ups and sub weapons (With the exception of the helmet) and great soundtrack. If you buy this collection this is THE GAME you want to play.

X2: A good follow-up for the last game, great stage design, one of my personal favorite armors because of the double shot, does not have as a memorable soundtrack but it is still good. (Also in this game starts the trend of sub weapons being useless for most situations, with some of them only strictly used to get power ups)

X3: Ehhh, let us get this outta the way first, this is the SNES that is why there is the lack of animated cutscenes which gave some charm to this entry. Now... I personally hate X3 because of the little things like the charged shot, how obscure it is with its power ups...
The hyper chips are also a issue, the lack of sense of how some stages "interact" with each other and FORCED BACKTRACKING IF YOU WANT TO GET ALL THE ITENS.

The game sets you up for failure on more than one situation (Like the chips you get from the capsules or how it doesn't even explain you can use Zero and if he dies you lost him for good, did I mention that he gives you another power up for your "buster" if he fights the ONLY boss IN THE ENDGAME THAT HE CAN ENTER THE ROOM in the ENTIRE GAME). Is it good? Kind of. Would you recommend this to a new player in the franchise? No.

X4: For me this game is also the reason why anyone should consider buying this, this game is perfect with the soundtrack, you can finally play as Zero through the entire game. X4 is basically Megaman X, but better.

Turn back while you can, no happiness can be found here.
One thousand hours later, and I still didn't find happiness.
