TBH you've got the point here. DBD is in just AWFUL state rn and the balance is garbage indeed. And speaking about tunneling again. Since I think I've chosen quite bad words and I feel like I sounded harsh LUL (And I'm sorry for that!). Tunnel is like.. Quite a controvensial topic in general. There are resonable sides of it but also there's not. It's awfully hard to balance it out I feel like.

My man, if you think you can't win without tunneling I have some news for you. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose. Surprising, right? You just were agaist better survs. I'm not being rude or anything. But the mentality that you can't win without tunneling is quite... Well, it says a lot about the skill? Check out even some streamers who plays killer, lots of them have high MMR and they don't tunnel and win their games easily. Just keep playing and you will get better. That's all.
