Let's be honest - we all know what this is and there is no getting around it.

Yes - this game does not change that much from the first warhammer
Yes - this game has a fantasy setting and not a historical one
Yes - there will be stuff missing which is added later on by dlc
Yes - the battle pace is still too fast and the ai isn't very smart

By now, none of these things should suprise you. Did you enjoy the first warhammer game, or the total war format in general? Pick this up.
Do you despise the dlc policy and the gameplay/setting, or did you simple not like the last game? Don't pick this up.

This game is no suprise - you know what you are getting, and it's up to you to decide if you want to put in the money. As far as I'm concerned the game is very solid at it's core, and a great sequel to the last edition, and I wholeheartedly recommend it!

This DLC -if you can call it that, it's really more like an expansion pack- is my new favorite DLC of all time, surpassing XCOM: Enemy Within. The amount of content you get is staggering, literally every moment of playing this game there is something on the screen that was added by this expansion. It adds a ton of stuff, which is all great, but also revisits base game things, like map layouts, mission types and the much disputed timers. The loading time and performance have also been greatly approved.

All in all this expansion pack is absolutely great because of the massive amount of content and other improvements - truly an example of how DLC should be done.

> play as petty king of ireland
> reunite ireland under one banner
> son dies before his pregnant wife gives birth
> I get to name his son once he is born
> let's call him something dumb to mess with my dead son
> 'doozy' is born
> doozy somehow has great talents and becomes my chancellor
> now king of both ireland and wales
> because of the way marriage works my heir won't get both ireland and wales
> ohshit.jpg
> change heritage rules so that the oldest in the dynasty inherits everything
> doozy now heir to my entire kingdom
> meet King Doozy of Ireland and Wales

oh well time to murder my mother so I inherit part of scotland

The worst game mechanics I have ever seen in a game. Unkillable enemies, plenty of instakilling factors, just so much annoying stuff. What makes it good? Well, the story is splendid. The characters are engaging and the plotline feels epic. A second playthrough is going to be painful, but I could overlook the annoying game mechanics in favor of the plot.

CA outdid themself once again as far as I'm concerned.

Keep this in mind; i'm a fluffy player. I like to build armies around a certain gimmick, or just put cool units together and spend 2 hours watching the replay in slow motion. This is what I enjoy, and this dlc delivers that. The models are splendid, the animations are on point, creating an awesome faction.

I can't say much about balance. I am enjoying the grand campaign a whole lot; keep in mind i'm playing on normal. I don't find the amber mechanic too restrictive, and I'm having a good time playing it. I do agree that archers don't feel amazing without buffs, but the low tier glade guard are still really useful. The waywatchers definitely need tweaking to live up to their name though. The cavalry feels great though, and the wardancers are brutal in melee combat.

I'm not very fond of the mini-campaign personally. I keep getting stomped early on, with multiple factions declaring war on me without me having access to decent units yet. Also, if you decide to play as Durthu in the mini-campaign, you will start very far from the oak of ages, and if it get's razed you lose. What happend to me is that an wood elf faction declared war of me, and immediatly razed the oak, resulting in a loss. This is ridicilous, so I'd say not too expect too much from the mini-campaign.

Is is worth the price? That's up to you. I think the price is quite steep normally, but with a sale it should be a good buy!

After having a good review for ages, I'm changing it. Don't get me wrong, I got a lot of enjoyment out of this game, but everytime I see it in my library I feel a little dissapointed in what it could've been. Fallout new vegas and even fallout 3 just left so much more of an impression, and I can never get tired of those games. I still go back to the mojave desert from time to time to crack a few quests, and fallout 4 just doesn't do this for me. By no means a bad game, just look at my hours, but so, so far from what it could have been. Bethesda, please give the next fallout to Obsidian.

Buy Fallout New Vegas instead. No base building but a way more intruiging world and way more interesting quests, that'll stick around with you for way longer. Back to the mojave.

Update
---------------------------------------------------------
The most fun I've had actually came from a complete overhaul, a mod called 'FROST'. It turns fallout 4 into a very gritty and difficult survival simulator, making your every move intense. Would highly recommend this as I think it is one of the most fun things to do with this game.

Looks great, plays great, runs great. Also warhammer, WAAAAGH!

Edit: Well, I don't get annoyed that quickly by forums or internet discussions, but this one bugs me. A lot. The game is great, very solid, there is barely anything to complain about. But still the game gets bad reviews. Why? Because of dlc (that at the moment) isn't out yet. Blood and gore pack is a seperate dlc, because of age rating. It comes at the cost of 2,50 which to me doesn't seem like a lot. I mean, you can buy a coke for that money, maybe 2. Now for the chaos warriors dlc, this is one I'm also a bit icky about, but I still think it's not that bad. Yes, it should have been in the game by default, but most people got it for free anyway in the first week. Still I understand people are upset about this. Now for the "call of the beastmen" dlc. People are, at this moment, leaving bad reviews on the base game, because of a dlc that isn't out yet. Yes, I do also feel it is a bit expensive, and the unit roster is too small. The solution? Don't buy it. If you don't feel like a dlc isn't worth your money, just don't buy it. It isn't like your obliged to do so.

Why did I write this paragraph about something as silly as this? I don't know, maybe I'm just an idiot, or maybe I don't want to see this game, which is one of the best warhammer games to date, see get buried in bad reviews. Oh well, I'm just one opinion of many, but thanks for taking the time to listen to mine.
