10/10 would recommend:

Its everything I wanted changed with Minecraft - Ample time to get your loot, higher quality graphics, physics simulations, defined progression, good building and resource management.

It's just hard enough ,like Dark Souls - and combat is an absolute blast and well executed.

It's exploration friendly like no-man sky - I keep finding stuff and have an urge to keep exploring more and more.

Hoping that there are a lot more expansions on the horizon :D

Update: This got my The “Thanks A Lot, I'm Now Questioning My Own Free Will” Award Nomination

It's been compared to Talos Principle and Portal. And then Chapter 4 happens.

11/10 would combine Searle's cognitive philosophy and the Stanley Parable again.

P.S. As a cognitive scientist I can confirm that the 7 to 10 seconds "Free Will" figure is a true fact. Which is why you've already decided to buy this game and like this review before you even read it.

> EXTREMELY.
Is using Myrtenaster to stab through a Boarbatusk after charging into a wall sound fun?
> OBVIOUSLY
Can using Gambit Shroud as a Variant Ballistic Chain Scythe against Creeps be any more fun?
> DOUBTFULLY
Is hearing Yang make terrible puns enjoyable?
> DEBATABLE

Translation for those who aren't familiar and in love with RWBY....yet:

Is uppercutting a giant evil bear to the moon with shotgun gauntlets sound fun?
> EXTREMELY
Is using a rapier that's also a revolver to stab through Sonic the Wild Boar after faceplanting into wall sound fun?
> OBVIOUSLY
Can using a bladed pistol thrown around on a giant ribbon to play Whack-a-Mole be any more fun?
> DOUBTFULLY
Is hearing Barbara Dunkelman make terrible puns enjoyable?
> STILL HIGHLY DEBATABLE

Is there room for improvement?

While APB is not without its own set of issues, GamersFirst's dedication and continual, weekly patching makes APB an enjoyable PvP based open world GTA clone that is always fresh and vibrant. The vibrance of this game also stems from the community, as ever complex and new artistic designs of clothes, cars and symbols are being made with the in-game photoshop client. If you can dream it, you can have it in game (and if you cant make it yourself, many individuals would be more than happy to be contracted out to do so).

GamersFirst strives for a truly free-to play experience where nothing is pay-to-win or pay-to-play. All real world cash bought weapons can be bought from within the game, and the starting weapons given are considered to be above aveage in terms of usability and reliability. The only real money exclusives are cosmetic items for clothing, weapon skins or car kits, give nothing in terms of game advantage. When Realtime Worlds went bankrupt in 2010, APB reopened up under GamersFirst with a premise of creating a better user experience. And within the last year alone, patches for elective spawning, multiple new weapons, level-cap increases/contacts, UI optimization, Server and Client side optimization, new open world maps, new character/weapon/car modifications have all greatly improved the content and expereince within APB. And in Q1 of 2014, the complete overhaul of game engine from Unreal 2008 to Unreal 2013 will breathe new life into this game, allowing it to compete against games such as GTA V Online in terms of massive content, graphics and playerbase options.

The gameplay itself tends to present itself as a steep learning curve for most new players, but new tutorials and an active community allow for even the most inexpereinced players to enjoy the game. There is no wrong way to play APB. Many individuals play the game to dress up and design outfits, others just drive around racing in their cars, while others enjoy blowing everything up. For most players, APB presents itself as a solid, well-rounded game where no matter what you are looking for, you'll find it within. And the best part...you dont pay a cent.

Edit: 2017 and still no engine upgrade, Red Rain District or final contact. Sigh. Nevertheless, yeah, I still love this game and what I said above holds true for the time.

One of my personal favorites, It is a greatly overhalued loot grider of yester-years hidden behind the facade of the modern open-world zombie shooter. While a bit touchy when coming to bugs and glitches, they are in no way intrusive, and supply a few chuckles when playing with friends.

Think L4D + Counterstrike. You pew-pew zombies and then buy more pew-pew between waves. The difference is that there are no safe rooms and nowhere to camp. You're basically screwed from the get-go. Great game.

Think of playing the board game Risk but you control but one unit and the dice roll is controlled by the combined skill of about 600 players. That is planetside.

At first glance this game looks like a silly do-whatever-you-want blow-stuff up-to-get-points open world GTA clone. But after a few hours you feel as if you are part of a mind blowing action film complete with stunts, car chases, crazy explosions and of course crappy dialoge.

1000 sq km open world exploration like Fallout + complex crafting system like Oblivion + first person combat like Half Life + Faction relations and quests like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. + Open world PvP like APB = One fun night with a few friends. Absolutely a great game.
