One of the worst games I've ever played. It's not well crafted. And in that regard Skyrim is like any other Bethesda game: notorious for its bugs, missing the level of depth you'd want from this kind of game, stories which could have had impact are not explored further, a lot of the npcs are quite bland, combat isn't fluent etc etc - in short: wasted potential.

Yet somehow it is still one of my favourite games. I genuinely enjoy my time in Skyrim. I have made some nice memories surrounding the game. I still often talk to my friends about it, I love when they send me Skyrim memes or we share silly stories...

And I keep coming back to it. Sometimes to crawl through dungeons for a day, sometimes to min max a full set of enchanted dragonplate/-scale armour and sometimes just to pluck a few flowers and wander through the forest. Either way it keeps me distracted from real life worries and creates this space where I can be a powerful dragonborn meant to slay dragons just running around doing silly sh*t if I want.

So to conclude: Skyrim is overrated af. Not just in the community but by me personally too. It's really really not that good of a game. But it keeps bringing me joy. So why not savour that?
