Game has lost the plot...

This is gonna be a lengthy, messy essay about why freeroam is killing the game and I can't be bothered making another review of my own so TL:DR at the bottom.

Development
PCE's dominating demographic are freeroam dwellers who avoid "core" game modes like TDM and GTTC. The community as a whole have been advocating for years for content and changes catered to that group of people who a certain dev apparently doesn't give a rat's rear about.
Examples of changes that serve freeroam are:
  • More dinosaur cosmetic content that get accepted in bulk (80+ items in one update, only like 5% of which get more sales than the other items combined) whether or not a dev says a certain design is 'not happening' or not
    (not happening: low quality, buggy, copywrite (like blue from JW) or something that makes it harder to differentiate between classes like the Sucho Acro - that's right, that mutation wasn't meant to happen until someone went back on their word).
  • Community maps specifically designed for freeroam and freeroam only.
    With multiple months of work and testing being invested before and after being accepted into the game to make those maps TDM compatible, only to be removed from the default map rotation months or a couple of days later.
  • More rewards for simple tasks like levelling up and higher drop rates for high rarity skins. You get free drops for FREE, so what's the issue with having commons and uncommons drop 99% of the time when you have an entire crafting system you can utilise to get items with a higher rarity?
  • Easier weekly challenges. They're meant to take you at most a week to finish all three tasks but apparently everyone is in a rush all the time and need them all done in 10 minutes...
  • Playable herbivorous dinosaurs. For 5 years it was firmly stated that this will never happen and now they get their own update.
    At this rate, looping rest taunts are going to happen even after plenty of people have said no.

    Content creators
    These people who serve as the games primary advertising platform will pump out 20-40 minute videos on the game per update to quickly skim through balance patches, new gameplay mechanics or huge bug fixes, then analyse every skin/mutation brought into the game for a good 10 minutes of the video and hop onto a freeroam server or if they genuinely like the game, some TDM. Some creators are click-baity as hell, obviously showing that they unfortunately care little for the game and the direction it's heading.
    Old gameplay videos from 2015 racking millions of views also just show a huge chunk of freeroam gameplay consisting of pretending to communicate with other players (talking through mic when the other player can't hear them) and a bit of roleplay. These videos are by established content creators who haven't been told what to show or how to play so it really shows what they believe the gameplay experience is meant to be like.
    About two months ago, I tuned in to a twitch stream of a guy playing during the Winter 2.0 update where he was on freeroam for apparently an hour and was ready to quit. After being convinced to play a ranked mode, he smiles and yells 'the stream will continue!' Apparently he didn't know the game had a TDM gamemode but he finished the stream 2+ hours after initially saying the stream would be cut short.
    Watching PCE YouTube videos just shows that the freeroam experience is the main selling point of the game in which new content is given the most attention by pretty much everyone with eyes and new players somehow find themselves spending their first few hours on freeroam before learning that there are other gamemodes out there which are more enjoyable (next paragraph will help you understand why that's a bad thing).

    Freeroam itself
    Freeroam is, in my own words, the breeding ground for truly self centred, egotistical individuals incapable of empathy. Have you noticed that almost everyone who is game banned has spent nearly their entire game hours on freeroam?
    In my own experience, even playing on the most toxic 'ranked' server doesn't compare to your average freeroam server starring abusive admins, rampant pedophiles and children who idle for random drops, whine about dying to other players, beg for gifts or size/speed changes and harass each other.
    Freeroamers are a completely different group of people from the players who play the game as intended and you can easily tell - Every Tuesday these guys either head to a ranked server or convert their chill n kill server to ranked only to finish their weekly challenges. If you're not immediately cooperative with them you're either kicked or, if it's not their server, harassed and insulted.
    Considering the fact this game is small enough to enable everyone to know each other, drama within the community spreads wide and far to poison the community and make the game look bad for potential buyers.
    The worst part is there's no possible way to get rid of freeroam without the game taking a massive hit financially and in player count since freeroam players make up a huge chunk of the playerbase and seem have loads of cash to burn up for cosmetics.

    TL:DR Freeroam is the root of many issues that this game faces, most of the community drama and wasted potential of the game is thanks to that gamemode and its residents. Despite all that, people who make decisions for the game believe freeroam is the future and whether they like it or not will have to serve on the basis that freeroam is the game, in order to make more money out of the franchise.

    This isn't the right path, more attention must be drawn to the original core aspects of the game which, (if I have to remind everyone and this is comparing to the original Primal Carnage) was an 'immersive, skilled PVP experience with team-based strategy' with better gameplay mechanics, more optimisation, and more customisation (at the very bottom of the list).
