Portals are a gimmick. They are counter intuitive to the fast paced nature of the gameplay.

You can't mute anyone, so if a player wants to troll everyone with racist music for the match, you're stuck trying to talk over it.

Gunplay usually is acceptable, although inconsistent at times.

Very addictive, at first. At some point, you'll realize the game is mostly repetition and you've already seen/done everything it has to offer.

Update Nov 15 2019:

Got a stealth ban by Warframe's infamous moderators. For how long? Wasn't told. For what reason? Wasn't told. Before the ban, there was an argument, that I wasn't a part of, in Region chat and it degraded very quickly. Players started getting kicked left and right. Another player concluded that it must have been a moderator, since no one had said anything for an automated ban, like spammed, sworn, or saying,"The t-word." The t-word is,"Trap," since that's somehow derogatory now. DE's stance is that you can't say someone is a trap. I pointed this out to the player. Next thing I know, he was kicked. For saying,"t-word"? Region chat suddenly went silent for me. Turned out I was kicked too.

Update Nov 6 2019:

Saint of Altra and Old Blood updates have changed my mind... again. Devs are pushing out more bugs than actual content. Graphics downgrades. Melee weapons were standardized, so, while more balanced, they all feel samey and dull. The Kuva Lich system is about as copy and paste as you can get(Shadow of Mordor) with no effort to improve or adapt it to Warframe.

Update Jul 19 2019:

I got an apology from one of the devs. Back to recommended.

Original Review Jan 24 2019:

Sometimes the devs will come into your PvE game to kill you. Just so everyone can have a laugh.

Not a hard game, but a tedious one. Play fast and you'll be cycling through characters. Play slow and you'll just get bored.

The setting and art are pretty great though.

Feels like a combination of Doodle God and an RTS.

There's a lot to like about this title. Great atmosphere, tough choices, a well thought 2D style. Where the game fails is how it expects the player to learn. There's no tutorial here. No manual. Just trial and error. For a game such as this, it's absurd. Don't think you'll get far your first couple playthroughs. You'll be taking risks just to figure out basic mechanics.

CoD gameplay and WWII do not mix well. Consists of twitch firefights and camping. Maps are too small. Divisions were a huge letdown and have no part in this game when they're just another name for class/loadout. Constant character feedback for capturing points, can't even finish saying something before the condition changes, which leads to another outdated voice line. Feels like a WWII skin over BO2.

Update:
Tried the game again. Still had issues. Upon loading into the server, my friend had to wait for 30 minutes to spawn. Despite having a stronger rig than the last time he played, he had lower FPS. Both of us experienced constant terrain flickering. I was unable to pick up certain resources from off of the ground.

Previous:
Going to update this later with specifics maybe, but... just stay away. The game is very much an early access game still.

Low FPS with above recommended specs. Resolution upscaling that I can't seem to disable. Inconsistency with which items that can be harvested. Getting stuck because the game keeps snapping you towards other players. Connection issues related to servers that aren't up-to-date.

Edit: Two things killed it for me. First, the seemingly supermassive hitboxes/collision sizes. Killed a friend on the edge of my screen multiple times with a spear. Got stuck between a wall and rock that weren't even touching me. Second, on multiple occassions I went into negative engram points.

You won't have to contend with numbers in the billions here. Much shorter than other, campaign based, games of its genre, but thought out design still allows for hours and hours of play. Fights are usually quick, and rather brutal. Enemies can defeat you in just a handful of hits, even on normal difficulty. Top that off with an elemental attack that destroys equipment and you'll have a rough time. Varied skill trees on each run add to replayability.
