I bought this game for less then a buck but still can't recommend.
The game seems to be fun for the short duration, it has a certain vibe and weirdness about it that I like.
However during a certain point in the game I got sort of a game over screen.

When I tried to continue my save game the game crashes and it seems my save file is corrupt.
Looking on the forum this has been an issue ever since this game was released like 7 years ago by now and never was fixed by a developer.
No matter what the price is of a game, if there are still game breaking bugs that are never getting fixed I simply cannot recommend a game.
I am sorry to say I have requested a refund, hopefully the future games of this developer that I am going to play are less game breaking.

I bought this DLC just so I can tell you the New Holland CR11 is in the base game as well, this is just a gold skin.

This is just a 99 cent gold skin version that people got with the collector's edition, for some reason Giants sells DLC like this separate as well and not with the pre-order, or year 1 pass DLC.

I have to say a "no" for now for this "remastered" version.
First of all the game is capped at 60 FPS, I would have loved an official uncapped version but even capped at 60 FPS I get quite a bit of stuttering during gameplay and cinematics even while I am WAY above recommended specs. Either have an uncapped version of the game or at the very least make sure a "capped" 60 FPS version of the game runs on a GPU 4090 with a 7800 X3D CPU without any stuttering

Second, the description on the store page says: " Put your skills to the test thanks to the new speedrun mode and updated achievements"
The speedrun mode is there in the menu but not the updated achievements, the game in fact doesn't have Steam Achievements at all at the time of writing this review, there are many more games not having Steam Achievements but why bother mentioning updated achievements if they are none existent for this game?
Maybe they intent to include updated achievements for an upcoming patch/update for the game, I have seen this in the past for other games but it's really weird and in my opinion misleading that they mention this at all while at launch this is none existent.
Again at the time of writing this, it is pure speculation on my part, no mentioning of a patch or upcoming update addressing this.

3rd when I try to launch the game through the desktop shortcut the game always crashes, I have to launch through my Steam library , not that big of a deal but all these small annoyances/bugs make me not recommend spending 20 bucks on.

If they fix any of these bugs mentioned above I will update my review.

Love this game so far, comparing this to Dead Island 1 and riptide it's a huge upgrade, graphic story and especially gameplay wise.
Had to wait an extra year for the game to release on steam with the DLC and patches/fixes but it's worth it.
If you are comparing this game to Dying Light 1 or 2 then this may feel a step down compared to freedom and parkour. However the gameplay and gore details while slaying Zombies is simply horrifying and awesome and makes up for it, especially if you have played a lot of dead island 1 like me.

I don't understand all the negative reviews about the epic game launcher to be honest.
I installed this game, launched the game, it asked me to link it to my Epic account, I said no and the game works like a charm no problems at all, I didn't get asked or forced to installed the Epic Games Launcher and after telling the game to not link my account there was no problem or Epic game launcher/account in sight.
Performance is great, graphics is great and oh my is the melee combat, and zombie "destruction" satisfying.

Small spoiler referencing Dead Island 1:
I am only at the start of the game and just met Sam B which I have known from the first Dead Island, I like how they are referencing Dead Island 1 in this way, however I am a bit disappointed that the character looks a lot different but especially the fact they used a different voice actor, makes Sam B feel like a different character all around

Early Access Review
What a terrible mess this is.
I bought during sale after noticing it had a big update.
I could not play for more then about 10 minutes.

Walking around in this game either in 1st or 3rd person feels terrible, 3rd person feels like one of those early 00's late 90's first attempt to get a game to go 3rd person. animations and the whole moving around feels terrible.
In 1st person it's even worse, you stop walking, your character doesn't stop but "glitches" forward or backward a little bit, this gave me a headache after a couple of minutes.

I didn't even get into the gameplay itself. if a developer can't even get the most basic function of walking around working correctly or smooth at the very least, it doesn't deserve to be in early access.
Sorry to be this harsh but after this "big" update I would have expected the game to at least have basic movement correct and they can't even deliver on that.
I have refunded the game, I will check back in about a year or so to see how things worked out.

On a slightly related note: Medieval Dynasty which is out of early access doesn't have these problems with movement and it feels smooth, please have a talk with that development team and get someone to work or maybe even port the movement system.... why are you reinventing the wheel here when you have another dynasty development team who have fleshed this system out perfectly.

EA/Dice made "a game" but this isn't battlefield.

It's trying to be something of a overwatch-fortnight-CoD combination and doesn't stand out with an identity on it's own.
Why EA/Dice thought we needed a mixed bag of games is a surprise to me, Battlefield on it's own is a strong franchise and they have decided to butcher the game to appeal to other popular games that we were not waiting for, we want to play battlefield, not whatever this is.

I am not even going to mention the many bugs, I have been playing battlefield since BF2 and bugs have always been there and can be fixed, what cannot be fixed is core gameplay.

The game has less then half the content previous battlefields had on launch.
The class system is gone and instead we get "specialists" with cringe worthy voice lines.
Only a few maps
Only a few guns
Sound quality is much worse

What I expected:
Raw battlefield immersion, feeling of being in a brutal battle.
What I got:
"Specialists" shouting at the end of the round "DOn'T bE SaD tHiS iS JuSt How iT WoRkS OuT SomeTiMeS"
Al the seriousness of the battle and immersion is gone, they make it sound like they are having a great vacation on this "battlefield"

What I expected:
Big maps with multiple ways of engaging in combat using terrain and levelution/destruction to create new paths.

What I got:
Open empty maps with barely a building here and there that is completely empty, barely anything can be destroyed, you keep spawning in open terrain waiting to be sniped from a distance or run over by hovercrafts while walking 10Km marathons to get to the objective.

What I expected:
Realistic vehicle combat (within the bounds of being fun, I am not playing a realistic simulator)

What I got:
Hovercrafts driving on top of buildings.
Helicopters high up in the air, not being able to be targeted by anti-air and just spamming the ground.
All vehicles have unlimited ammo so why do anything else then camp way back in friendly territory. just spamming the battlefield.

I could go on for a while here but if you have read the top comments on Steam you already know everything.
The only good thing I can find about this game is Portal, that is amazing and I can only hope they will expand on that part of the game which is actually previously good working Battlefield with satisfying gameplay.

Compared to previous Battlefield games this is 10 steps back and only 1 step forward (portal).

I used to play this game back when I was a kid.
It was a really hard game but I enjoyed the mechanics and the graphics back then.
It felt like a really "raw" game if that makes any sense at all.
I must have spend 100+ hours back then on this game, many difficult and frustrating hours, sometimes there were bugs and the physics didn't always work out really well.
But ow boy did I have fun with this game

For only 10 bucks I can recommend this to people who either enjoyed the game back then or people who don't mind playing old-skool difficult games.
I hear a lot of reference to Dark Souls, I have never played those game so I can't comment on that but if that means the game is unforgiving and you don't have things like " health regeneration" then yes this will be a challenging game.

I am surprised this game showed up on Steam I always thought this game was a really unknown game to most.

Currently however i have stopped playing because of a CTD (Crash to desktop) in the first level of the knight after playing for only 30 minutes.
I have made a report to the developers and will see and wait if they can help me with this.
It's only 1 crash and maybe I am just unlucky but 1 crash after only 30 minutes doesn't sound good.

However I still recommend this game, a lot of people are playing and have reviewed this game and I barely see any crash reports at all so it might just be me being unlucky :)

UPDATE:
The game is no longer crashing for me.
I reported this to the developers and they quickly responded, within 24 hours a patch was released and I haven't had a crash since.

EDITED:

As promised I would edit my review after the servers are fixed.
I have been playing many hours now on a server that rarely has a queue.

The game plays wonderfully, graphics, music and sound are amazing.
it feels like the next generation of MMO's.
With free crafting allowing you to play how you like.

The biggest downside of the game is however is the variety in quests.
The quests are pretty much simple kill X or collect X amount of X at location X .
Most MMO's have this "problem" however most nowadays come with a good background story or interaction with NPC's
Here it is just an NPC with 1 line of text and that's basically it.

It clearly shows that the New World PvE content when it comes to story and quests are something they added late into the game.

The gameplay and amazing graphics/sounds/music makes up for a lot of the game and really get's me into the games atmosphere.
I also fear that there is currently no end game content.

In about a month or so I really hope the developers will soon add a roadmap to extend the story and interaction with the game as well as the end game.
in it's current state the game will survive the coming months but I fear for it's end content at the moment.
