I've gotten to a point in life where advancing or even keeping my rank would be hard without dedicating at least half my free time everyday. I'm 19 at the time of writing this review and have dedicated 3k+ hours hitting my highest rank of low GC1 2s and almost GC1 3s. I'm a very competitive player and seeing my rank stay the same even though I was putting hours into improvement instead of focusing on other overall move beneficial activities hurt a lot. Considering my well-being I'm making a logical decision of dropping Rocket League. It was fun while it lasted.

I've spent so much damn time on this game that not playing it for an extended period of time is giving me withdrawal symptoms. The other day I got to play a match of rocket league in my dreams after seeing my roommate play it for a while. I think it spoke volumes that even in my dreams (which were extremely realistic) I had a teammate call me out quick-chatting "Close-One!" after I whiffed saving a goal.
Rocket League is a great game. Probably the greatest game I'll ever play. The immersive controls eventually lead to feeling like you are the car you control. But the immersion is what ruined it for me. It is fine to play a game. It is not fine when you wake up to play rocket league, eat fast to go back to playing rocket league, sleep to be better at rocket league, rocket league not leaving your mind when going outside, when traveling, when walking your dog. I've never been addicted to any drugs, I never smoked nor have I been drunk. But if I ever was addicted I imagine it would be somewhat like my experience with rocket league.

This is hopefully the last time I open this games steam page. My time spent there was not wasted but it is time for me to move on.

Edit: after changing my worldview to be less gaming focused, it's an alright game I guess.
