Amazing game.

I don't know ♥♥♥♥ about Vtubers nor do I care to know and it is still incredible. The effort put into this game is insane, it is a masterclass on what a fangame should look like. This is better than many AAA games out there, and the fact that it is completely free is almost criminal!

10/10, go play it. Must have for all the Vampire Survivors fans out there.

Amazing game tbh, I've always wanted a more action packed, active version of Vampire Survivors ever since I first played it. This game is exactly that and more.

10/10 please fully release already so I can purchase you.

Elder Scrolls Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, enfim... claro que existem exceções.

This game is an absolute blast. If you're familiar with games such as Senko no Ronde and Acceleration of SUGURI, you'll love it. Like these two, it mixes fighting and shump elements into very fun and dynamic 1v1 matches. All characters have a unique set of skills with different tools to work with. They range from smashing your opponent's face with a giant moon-shaped comet to decimating it with powerful lasers to the vanilla "all over the place" patterns.

It packs cute characters, pretty artstyle and a solid campaign mode for casual and hardcore players alike, ranging from "cute mode" (not challenging at all, meant to enjoy the story) to very hard mode, where the absolute mayhem the genre is known for and we all love takes place.

Also, if you feel like the game doesn't have any content besides online PvP after you finish the main campaign, you can tackle the True Magnus bosses. Much like Sora's special encounters, they're the ultimate version of the adventurers and the monsters, packing a bunch of hard, challenging patterns every hardcore shump player would happily try over and over to beat.

Overall it is a great game. The story is ok even if this element in particular isn't a strong point for shumps, multiplayer works fine, characters are unique and interesting to play and the soundtrack is nice. The developer, Mino, is also quite active in the Discord community, always interacting with players to talk about the general state of the game, be it about bug fixes, lore stuff or balance changes.

Solid game, honestly. If you love shumps, you can't go wrong with it.

And it even packs rollback netcode!

Early Access Review
This game is an online port of the original Battlecon board game and is extremely good. Although it combines gameplay mechanics from both fighting and card games, it is essentially a 1v1 fighting game in it's core. It has no RNG, meaning you won't have random outcomes completely ruining your experience. When you a lose a game, you know exactly why you lost, so you can improve by learning from your own mistakes. Battlecon emphasizes on player skill and decision making, it is a full-information game; you have access to every card in the opponent's hand, discard piles and also his character's unique ability. This way, you can try to predict your opponent's actions and play around them or, of course, guarantee that your planned attack will beat your opponent this turn. Also, the game is incredibly well balanced. Sure, some characters are a bit stronger than others, but there is no impossible matchup for any fighter at all. There are bad matchups like Shektur x Sarafina, but they're by no means impossible to win. If you know your character well and make the right decisions, you can still get the advantage in a match. Level99 Games' balance team is really competent; every character in the game is playable and feel unique. There is no godlike fighter who you simply instalock and win a match. As I said, this game focuses heavily on player skill, so there will be no such thing as a Mage ramdonly summoning King Krush from Unstable Portal to SMOrc your face up or a character which wins the game by itself. You, the player, has to pilot a fighter correctly in order to overwhelm your opponent and win the game. Play Battlecon Online, it is fun, balanced and competitive; I swear you won't regret it!

About the graphics' department: the game fails on that part, but honestly it is not a big deal; Battlecon is still enjoyable. Some people may find it boring to look at the card standees instead of sprites to emulate actual fighters battling, but it is just a matter of time to get used to it. The game is still fun, no matter how it looks. Not a big deal. Really. The only thing they could work more in my opinion are the attack's animations; they're all extremely simple and meh, so when you hit that juicy 10 damage Flare Spellbolt, you don't get the feeling of landing a really strong attack. It's more frustrating with finishers, though. They're supposed to be strong, final attacks able to close a match (hence the name), but when you finally meet the conditions to use your finisher and get to the correct range to actually hit it, you don't get the feeling of epicness from finishing your opponent with it. But, hey, we're still in early access, right? Obviously the game is not complete and they're working hard on it, so eventually it will get better and better!

All in all, it is a solid pick. If you are into competitive games with proper balancing like me, this is something you should take a look at. Even if you don't like competitive stuff, it is free, so it shouldn't be a problem to try it out. It is worth it.

I've been playing this game since closed beta, having playing it almost for a year as of now...

And all I can say is that it is the best CCG I have played in my entire life, by far. It combines chess elements with card game ones in order to become a tactical experience that is so immersive and deep. Despite the presence of some RNG elements that can make you feel really angry, skill plays the major role in this game, due to the presence of a living board. Positiniong means quite everything in Duelyst, so you have to think carefully about each of your steps. A single mistake can screw your positioning up and leave you wide open to lethal damage.

If you are in search for something more skill-based and less luck-based, then this is the game for you.

OBS: The game also has astonishing pixel art.

Great, really great game. Seriously, the story is just awesome, though it is very sad.

The game features an original battle system which I found very interesting, though it can be annoying at some times, but you'll get used to it. Soundtrack? Beautiful, it is really beautiful and fits well the game and it's powerful dialogues.

Pros:
+ REALLY beautiful and touching story;
+ Original and funny gameplay, though it can be annoying sometimes;
+ Beautiful soundtrack which fits well the game and it's sad atmosphere;
+ Has three endings;
+ Battle system is simple, really simple, which means anyone can play and enjoy the game;
+ Interesting characters and dialogues;
+ Really simple but useful crafting system;
+ Nice artwork.

Cons:
- Battle system can turn out from something funny to something really annoying;
- Has three endings, but none of them is actually a happy ending;
- English translation has some grammatical errors here and there, but who cares? You can still understand it;
- Each stage has some elite enemies, which are empowered versions of the normal monsters encountered throughout the area. The problem is: they don't attack you (unless you attack them, then they'll attack you back), they don't move and they don't retaliate to skills. This means you can keep spamming skills on them as long as you have mana without any harm. This is sad because killing them should be a challenge, when it actually comes to a matter of whether you have or not the patience to keep spamming whatever you want to spam at them until they die;
- Relatively short game.

And that's it. This game is deep, beautiful and worth playing, though with it's flaws. Nothing is perfect, you know. And well, uh... IT'S FREE! There's no reason not to play it, really. Even if you don't like the game, at least give it a try. You won't regret, I swear.
