Early Access Review
Hollow knight is definitely one of my favorite metroidvanias to have come out in the past decade. If you love hollow knight, you'll love this game,

The parry system gives a fresh feel to combat, while not straying to far from what made me love HK.

The runic system gives a cool spin on skills letting you build your character they way you like playing for each obstacle or fight you have ahead.

Secondary abilities are fun to play around with, swapping out different secondary to help you out in combat from playing it safe and keeping your distance to helping you stay in close.

The enhancement system of the game encourages you to keep the hits going increasing your combat/skills/secondaries powers mid fight, while also generating energy to regain HP. A similar feelings to the the rally system in Bloodborne.

Over all even in Early Access Deviator does a great job a building on what made HK and other Metroidvanias great, while being unique enough to not feel like just riding coattails.

The devs that made this game clearly love HK! So please give it a chance, and show them some support! I'm excited to see how the game turns out in the end

Context: My first play-through was done on the hardest difficulty, plz keep that in mind when reading.

When it comes to story, cut-scenes, art style, music, visuals fidelity, puzzles, platforming, world/level design, and exploration. Kena is definitely a game I would recommend. Albeit some slight frame tearing and stutter.

The only side Kena really struggles with is the combat itself. The biggest issue is the game's parry system which is very spotty and inconsistent throughout the game. Due to the parry being built the way it is, there is a significant input lag between your button press and the parry. This made it very difficult to gauge the timing of an enemy's attack to be able parry them. Most of the time I felt like it was sheer luck that the mechanic worked at all, especially during boss fights.

Boss fights come a close 2nd to being the game's biggest issue. Boss fights rarely have rhythm, if any at all. Making fights frustrating, and hard to learn a particular bosses' pattern. That being topped with the spotty parry makes it very upsetting to experience and enjoy the fights. Souls-like/lite games usually have a reliable and consistent parry system to be able offset the RNG of a boss fights' pattern. Unfortunately this is not the case with Kena as being able to parry a boss is a very big part of the boss fights in the game; even more so for the final boss and endgame content.

The 3rd issue tied to combat are the "Ad" fights. "Ads" being minions within boss fights themselves. There are a lot boss fights that have ads running around the arenas to act as fodder to build courage meter to allow you to preform power attacks to deal big damage. This adds even more frustration when fighting bosses, especially since performing a majority of you power actions leave you exposed during fights. I can only assume this was to make up for the inconsistency of the parry mechanic that would allow you to build courage upon success once you had obtain your first charm stone.

I would definitely recommend playing the game on an easier difficulty and enjoying it casually, so you don't notice the short comings of the combat and parry systems unless you really want the rewards for beating the game on the hardest difficulty like I did. Overall I enjoyed the game and my time with it despite it's short comings.

The story and gameplay are really enjoyable. although the game is more of a souls-light, it does have a lot of souls mechanics, like stamina based combat, exp/currency system, and bonfire style rest point. however, the game does not have a steep difficulty. playing on the current hardest difficulty is surprisingly easy. if you want an nice story with fun quick combat and easy souls-light exp, i'd recommend

Imagine Mirrors Edge meets Super Hot with a cyber punk theme and story, that's a pretty good summary to start this off with. Ghost Runner is short but sweet, with a campaign of about 11 or 12 hrs. This game is ligit fun and fast pace, with levels that can be beaten in multiple ways. You will die a lot, but no matter how much you die this game makes you want to keep playing and getting better.

This game can be pretty frustrating if you're someone who doesn't have fast reflexes and it may take some getting used to in the beginning, but GR is pretty good at keeping you at a good pace and teaching you as you go without throwing many curve-balls.

The only con I have is on the slower more puzzle oriented levels in the digital space. I spent a bit longer than I would have liked trying to figure out some of the more subtle puzzles, but i eventually got through even though i had to take a min to figure some of them out. I feel those sections kind of went against the game's over all theme of fast pace parkour action. You can opt out of them as most are optional. The only thing you'd miss out on by passing them up is a space increase, so you can buff your abilities more.

There are some collectibles and cosmetics that you can collect as you progress. You can also replay any stages you've beaten to collect any goodies you my have missed out on, giving you a bit more replay value.

Definitely had a blast streaming it on Twitch. I recommend it to any speed runner fans.

Early Access Review
I saw a Facebook ad for this game a week or so ago. I enjoyed the art style of the trailer from the ad, and was mulling it over on whether or not I wanted to buy it. I bought it yesterday on the 31st and streamed it on Twitch for about 7 hours straight!

Not being much for the zombie genre or survival style games, I was surprised on how much I enjoyed this game. Zelter is built pretty solid and I didn't experience any glitches or bugs in my time streaming it. It has a lot of potential, but could use some quality of life improvements.

My biggest issue is that the game has no option to customize you keyboard and mouse buttons, or game pad. A game like this requires some really tight controls, especially when running from hoards of zombies. There are a few other issues I had, but they are mainly Q.O.L issues.

My last thing is that this game just screams local/online co-op and i would love to see it implemented in the future. If any devs see this, i'd love to give my feedback on what could help the game.

For a game that came out about a week and a half ago on early access, and that i bought on a whim. I have to give this game a gold star. I really can't wait to see what's in store. Definitely streaming more of it that's for sure!
