Absolutely great foundation for a deep and engaging solo or coop action roguelike - I feel many of the reviews focus (unjustly, IMO) on this being somehow a betrayal of what the first game was or "just being a Hades clone". But I have played loads of WoL 1 and Hades, and I feel this game carves out it's own unique niche, and the feeling of building out your build with a buddy in coop, swapping trinkets to help out each other and focusing on different status effects, etc. is super satisfying. And the difficulty is appropriately tough, with a meta-progression system that I personally enjoy in my roguelikes where it's not just simple stat boosts but rather you choosing which perks you prefer, with a maximum of three. So a broadening of options, more than just a flat health/damage boost.

All this being said, the game is still very much an EA experience. There are bugs, there are crashes, there are kinks to be ironed out. But for the asking price it is still very much worth it for what is being offered right now, and the developers have absolutely made something deserving of your support. So if you like action roguelikes, especially with coop support, for sure this game is worth your time and investment!

Don't let my gametime fool you, I have played this game for dozens and dozens of hours in the closed beta and it is absolutely fantastic. So many intricate mechanics and interesting mid-game decisions to make, and you always feel like you're learning. The room to grow for this game is massive and the developers have shown that they are passionate and listen to the players.

Not since putting hundreds of hours in Battlerite have I felt this kind of rush in a MOBA and I can't recommend it enough! Go get it!

Absolutely gorgeous combat systems and hero design at play here - even though there is only one map i find myself wanting to level up each and every character and start pushing the 10 difficulty levels at play, and really master the mechanics of the game in anticipation of more content. The developers' previous game Curse of the Dead Gods was a huge favorite of mine and so i find myself totally satisfied with the content out at the moment, knowing i can get in 15-20 hours of content playing with friends and trying out builds before waiting for the rest of the roadmap content to be delivered. Highly recommend!!

I usually don't play survival games but i put over 300 hours into Battlerite and so i was down for whatever Stunlock Studios decided to do next - and so far it did not disappoint at all!! Beautiful graphics, so many different options to cater the game to how you want to play it, tight controls, great sound design. Very good first impression for an EA game and i can't wait to see how they will evolve the game from here. I'll be there for the ride for sure!

As someone who has put 200+ hours into the original Battlerite and love the traditional Arena mode I can wholeheartedly recommend this game as well. There are so many new mechanics to factor into your tactics and skillset (map awareness, looting, stealthy plays, active utility consumables) while still keeping the pure skillshot base fast paced gameplay intact. Sure, there is RNG and the learning curve is steep, even steeper than the original Battlerite. But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ does it pay off when you win a match with 7+ kills, heart pounding in your chest and a big grin on your face. With the amount of champions to choose from, the giant map and random element of 29 other players duking it out I don't see this getting stale any time soon, and it's perfect for someone like me who felt the original Arena mode had given me all it had to offer.

There is a lot of "controversy" about this game being another paid early access, but I honestly don't feel the LEAST bit deceived by this. They said it well in advance, all people who bought the orginal Battlerite get a 50% discount and the amount of polish and content on display is well worth your 10/20$ purchase. Try to filter out all the toxicity on reddit and here on Steam, see the game for what it is and I think you'll have a great time, especially with a mate in your group. In my case I found this to be a very innovative spin on the otherwise tired Battle Royale genre, and I can't wait to see where Stunlock takes this thing within the next 6 months before full launch.

If you're looking for a challenging and deep action brawler to play and master, look no further. Battlerite brings all the intensity and fast-paced action of MOBA teamfights when they're best, and cuts out the (to some people) tedious MOBA aspects of farming gold, rotating around the map and shopping for items between fights.

It is smooth, balanced and every single ability has to be aimed manually which makes it so rewarding to play, as you slowly but surely learn more and more about the various champions, how they work together and how they're countered as well. You may think to yourself that there are few heroes to choose from if compared to games such as DOTA or LoL, but you must understand that the champions of Battlerite have 8 abilities (and an ultimate) and a surprisingly complex Battlerite system (hence the name) which lets you customize their playstyle to your liking. This system recently got overhauled and improved even, which just goes to show how committed Stunlock Studios are to making changes in order to make the game as good as it could ever be.

It's quality over quantity in the case of Battlerite, and i really hope you'll check it out and try overcoming the initial struggle of getting used to the combat and fast-paced nature of the game. You may feel underpowered, that the other team has "broken" champions which cannot seem to be beaten. But you'll find that eveyone has a weak spot, most actions have an appropriate reaction to counter it, and once you learn how to use these mechanics in your favor it's the best ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ multiplayer brawler you could hope for. It's so polished and well designed that the newly released free-to-play edition simply DEMANDS you give it a try if you're feeling competitive and regular MOBA's fail to get your blood pumping anymore!

A solid 9/10 from me, would give it 10 but Stunlock has proven this game still has so much potential and they're working hard to make it better always, so perfection still lies in the future!

Hope to see you in the arena for glorious Battle!

Just... seriously guys. This game is so damn good. I've played my fair share of Metroidvania games, enough that I felt I was done with the genre, but this one just infected my brain like a little delicious worm and I welcome it deeply. It's kept me entertained, puzzled and challenged for so much longer than I've come to usually expect from small team indie games. Stellar soundtrack, unique and expressive hand-drawn old-school artstyle. Various ways to approach your game progression and it doesn't hold your hand more than it absolutely needs to, much akin to a Souls experience.

Probably the strongest contender as a 2D Dark Souls spiritual successor in my humble opinion. It's hard to express with my simplistic human mind just how hard I want you guys to play this, so just buy it and do it already. Impossible to regret just attempting this gem of a game, let alone overcoming all the bosses and mastering it with the true ending and all.

10/10, get this in your system!
