Good damn game.

This game is my GOTY for 2020.

Alright so I played and beaten the PS4 version twice. So I know a little bit about this game. It is without a doubt my favorite Final Fantasy game to date. I don't write reviews that often unless it's for a game I truly love, so I'm sorry if this is a bad review in your heads, I'm just typing whatever comes into my head.

First off the 4 guys is probably the best party out of any Final fantasy game. Unlike most games where each character of the party is a victim of circumstance and they're absolutely strangers before the events of the game. These guys are best friends and you absolutely get that from just the casual dialogue they have whether you're in the car, riding chocobos, or running across the landscape.

Secondly, the soundtrack is amazing. If you're not a fan of it there are CDs you can buy; in the game mind you, that have the soundtrack of your select favorite soundtracks throughout the series. Do you like the soundtrack from 7 the most? Well just buy the Final Fantasy 7 CD. Personally I haven't paid attention to the soundtracks of the other games as I played them, and I can't remember the music I've listened to through CDs back when I was playing this game on PS4.

Story wise I don't have a problem with it. I cried mutliple times and if you're anything like me you probably would too. I can understand why people think the story is lacking because certain side characters we should perceive as important are not given the screen time that's needed to actually understand the connection between the main characters.

The combat is a lot more fluid. If you are a fan of the classic RPG turned based combat or the "cooldown" based combat like 12 and 13 you probably won't be a fan of this. Going back to the 4 main guys, during combat if you as Noctis gets knocked out, well one of your mates will run over and help you up. The technique system allows you to combine attack with one of the guys to deliver a lot of damage. And once you unlock the armiger mode it is a lot of fun to just go all out for a couple seconds like you're Gilgamesh from the Fate anime series.

With that said enjoy the game.

The story is really good. Tying the story with live action episodes or cut-scenes at the end of each act feels really gratifying and refreshing to just sit back and watch what happened while you were killing things in the game. The combat isn't like anything I've played before, you have to use powers or else you'll die.

Speaking of powers it is really satisfying to freeze one group of enemies fire a couple shots at them and walk away as they blow up when the time starts again.

Also people are complaining about bad optimization. I by no means have a top of the line computer, I meat reccomended but just barely and there is absolutely nothing wrong in terms of framerate and misrepresented graphics.

This is the best game I've ever played and the only game in my life that effected me emotionally. The story and quests made me care about every single protagonist and side characters to the point I would reload sometimes if I felt genuinely awful about my decision.

This game gave me PTSD.

The Co-Op vs AI is surprisingly the most fun part of this game.

Quite possibly the best RPG I've ever played and the enhanced edition just scaled that two fold.

Traveled around the world in 71 days in which I raised and led a mutiny against the captain of the ship carrying me and monsieur Fogg across the Pacific. Competed in a race with some children, and ran away from a bandit trying to rob me in America and nearly being caught by him on the train outta town.

I think I'll go the other direction my next play through instead of through Russia, but of course there are bunch of different routes to take.

Great music if you enjoy techno/electronic music. Great art style, flashy design. Intuitive controls. All around a great game, but hard as nails.
