If you watched the anime more than once and really enjoyed it, you will enjoy this game.

Disclaimer: The Riko/Reg portion is basically a long tutorial. The character creator mode is where the full game actually is.

Combat: Good - Relatively simple hack&slash combat. It can have issues with awkward hitboxes but the lock on targeting system helps make it alot less frustrating than other similar games.

Audio: Very Good - The music matches the mood and keeps the feel of the show. The new JP voice talent (didn't listen to the English VAs) does a good job matching in with the established characters. There are a few audio clips that lack diversity in the gameplay and can get repetitive but it isn't as glaring as I've seen in other titles.

Visuals: Very Good - Though it isn't going to win industry awards for it's models, almost everything about it fits the show extremely well for style. I was impressed with how little clipping I see and the models, even at range, rarely glitch visually.

AI: Okay - The ally and enemy AI have a hard time. They will occasionally get stuck on terrain and they won't always be able to track your character well. It's really the only objective flaw I'd point to for them to fix.

Overall Gameplay: Very Good - Setting aside the Riko/Reg portion (which only has limited parts of the game's system open to it), there is alot to enjoy. The game-play cycle of dive and return feels solidly fun. The overlapping progression systems allow for growth in free-play adventuring while keeping it connected to "story" questing for bigger progression moments. Managing inventory on the journey, hunger/fatigue, and planning for the inevitably harder return ascent provides genuine challenge.

Bias: I will tell you, I tried to be as objective as I could in writing this. However, I didn't realize just how much I would enjoy this game until I got a good way into it. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to 100% this thing.
