I like the game, I really do and have logged many hours into it since launch. Now my issue isn't the PSN account (though it is annoying and more crap to keep track of), to me it's the problem of screwing players out of their money. Yes Steam has long since allowed for refunds regardless of play time, but it still stands to reason that this game was sold in countries where PSN was blocked. This is entirely on Sony for allowing this to happen and though Arrowhead is to blame for some of the side stuff such as horrible community managers, it's still on Sony. It also shows Sony would rather double down and not give these players the game and tear it from under them by delisting it in countries that have PSN blocked. So essentially they reduced their player population, lost money, dev team is getting hung out to dry, and Sony will just walk away from this knowing the loss on the game is only a drop in the bucket and ride away with their golden parachutes. Typical corporate crap as usual. What have we learned......don't sell your soul to the devil...you always lose in the end.

update: Changing to positive because Sony has changed the PSN requirement. This pretty much means people who bought the game in blocked countries can play it now.

Game is good. It's essentially Doom 2016 and I don't mind more Doom 2016.

First off, the game is really limited right now and if you're expecting deep combat or a RPG system like Skyrim, I'd suggest you turn away or wait. The game needs time in the oven and seeing it's a pre-alpha, I would expect it to be very limited. Also..........why do all the characters need animal heads? Yeah I've talked about the gameplay but we all know why people are buying this.........and yes the NPC and player models are very detailed (everything on the characters are detailed) and the environment is oddly detailed for something that seems more like a sex simulator.....for now. Id just want to see more interaction and input from the player on what happens and maybe a free cam mode. Yes......if you're making a game like this you better add something like that.

This DLC felt rushed and it really shows in the way the whole thing is put together. The end boss felt boring and uninspired, the levels fell easier than the first 3 missions of the main campaign and to top it off they feel shorter too. The tense feeling of combat is gone that was there in part 1 (and no longer is there in part 1 despite it being there for 6 months), and enemy placement feels really bad. It feels like they just spammed the same enemies and replaced the interesting combat arenas with cookie cutter layouts for each level in part 2. I also need to bring up how some enemies feel like rush jobs like the stone imp and the hell troopers. The troopers are better off not even being there because they aren't at all worth killing outside of pickups and even then they don't drop as much as chainsaw to a fodder demon. The stone imps seem interesting but why couldn't they have used something that we havn't seen before? why do we have the armored Barron when they could have used something like the Bruser form Doom 3? They have demon ideas from their past they could have included in this DLC like the magot or even the premature pinky (the one with robot legs). Give us something other than reskins of what we have seen already because what was given felt really rushed and it really shows. I also need to talk about update 5 and how it totally killed the challenge in part 1. It feels like a limp chicken now or a dead cat with no challenge and little emphasis on being smart in combat. The Barron in the starting area of UAC Atlantica is gone, a bnunch of husks are gone, and the arachnatron is nerfed to the point it might as well be fodder demon. Also whats up with the music mixing now? Why is the music both in the main campaign and the DLC's so toned down to the point we can't hear them? To conclude I can't really say this is a good DLC and I can't say the ending to it was satisfying as the speed we get to it feels like they were just trying to get it over with and ship it.

So the story to me is mildly confusing as some of the events just lead me into a straight mind ♥♥♥♥, but despite this the game plays great. It's essentially Alan Wake but With the setting of Quantum Break and a huge dose of the SCP foundation thrown in. I need to point out that this game even in the base game minus the AWE DLC, confirms that Alan Wake and Control exist in the same universe, and if you collect all of the notes laying around the old house, you'll find plenty mentioning the Bright Falls incident and even name dropping Wakes wife several times. The DLC However doesn't seem to add all that much to Alan Wakes story despite the DLC having him in the game. I was really hoping we would see some possessed shadow people and random objects floating around the building but instead all we got was dark goop covering the odd door or progression item which in my opinion was a total kill joy. The only real connection this whole DLC has to Alan Wake is Dr Hartman who is in my opinion BS, and the cut scenes involving the writer himself which from what I understand there are maybe 3 with most of them showing Wake going nuts and one with him talking to Mr Scratch who pretends to be Thomas Zane. Outside of these cut scenes, the game play has no connection whatsoever and feels like your typical game of control but with an annoying unkillable enemy (except for when you fight him at the end) and the goop on the doors and progression items. I was hoping to at least play as Wake or maybe even see some enemies from Alan Wake but no, we just got more hiss, and a whole hell of a lot of baiting for a possible sequal to Alan Wake. Yeah I know I'm harping on the DLC and not the main game but I just needed to say it. As for the overall game is concerned, I found the combat to be enjoyable, the level of destruction in each room really makes every battle feel like a war with chunks of pillars, walls, and equipment falling apart as you and the hiss wreck hell all through the old house. I rather enjoyed the campaign and it's DLC's (havn't played the foundation yet) but there is one issue I have. When I played the game it felt great but when it came to the ending, it just kinda had me scratching my head for a few minutes. I liked the little sike out moment with the fake ending, but the real ending was just as much disappointing. I just sat there thinking "wow.....for all she went through...thats all that happens...Just that? You'll see what I mean when you get to the ending. As for navigation, I kinda sat there dumbfounded for some segments having no idea where to go. It's not like I don't know where to go, I do but when the game tells you to go to some new location that you've never been to, sometimes I just found myself wandering up and down the oldhouse sometimes stumbling upon my objective on accident. Something that would have helped was a map that allowed you to tag locations and keep track of them as you traveled or perhaps provide a navigation point for those who aren't all the privy to going down the beaten path for a secret or collectable. In conclusion, the game is great, the AWE DLC in my opinion is more of the same, the story is a mind ♥♥♥♥, and the ending is not exactly satisfying. it kinda just ends and there you go now you're the director of a secret government group. I reccomend this game and seeing it's only $31 I don't think it's that bad. P.S: kinda glad I waited for it to come to steam or else I would have had to pay $60 and and an extra 20 for that DLC. HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Pros: For starters the game itself looks amazing, runs great on my mid range system at ultra 1080p (around 40 fps) and the game play mimics that of what it's like to be a hunter. Having to find a lost person in the taiga or track down a injured moose to finish it off may sound boring but I find it interesting. It's not a high scripted game with set pieces galore but instead it's a game meant for someone who has some time, has patience, and is willing to go off the beaten path in order to get something done. Maybe I'm hyping this game up too much but after having been home due to the covid 19 situation, I found a game like this to be a great way to experience what I can't experience in real life.

Cons: Well for starters the base game which is at $20 isn't worth it, even with the cheap price tag. At the very least I suggest you get the $40 2019 edition with an included 3 ATV's, two new maps, and a few extra gear items like tents and some extra rifles. Buying the game for $20 will just have you kicking your self as it's lacking so much content. Just buy the $40 2019 edition. As for that $80 edition........thats up to you....I'm not spending that much but it will give you everything that was intended to be in the game.

conclusion: I would say buy it but not the $20 version. The $40 or the $80 editions are the only versions I'd pick up here because that $20 version......it's really lacking. it makes me wonder why they just didn't make the base game $60 from the get go and just not deal with all these different versions. Maybe that $80 edition would still be there but the $40 version could have been avoided. 8/10 I say but only for the versions that aren't the $20 edition.

one of the best games I've ever played in a very long time. If you want to get into Doom I suggest you start with this one. Not trying to say the old games are bad, but this game is honestly pure sex.

I have not actually been able to play the game. I have however clicked play only to see nothing happen so that time I have in the game has been collected by me trying to get this game to work. I would consider playing the game and actually giving a genuine review but as of now I can't. I really hope this isn't an arkham knight situation were the game is so broken you need a max $10,000 pc to run it. I really want to play this thing but I can't give a good word on a game that simply won't open. I'm sorry Bethesda but this game is legit dud.
