If you are avoiding playing this game because you're worried it'll make you feel sad, this review is for you.
Yes, the game will make you feel sad. It is about grief after all. However, it's also about joy, happiness, delight, fear, curiosity and a myriad of other emotions that come from having a relationship.
Grief is ultimately a pain we feel at the loss of a loved one, and the greater the love, the more pain we feel.
This doesn't mean we should close ourselves off from the world though. As the pain from loss dulls, we remember the other emotions that we had with that person. The joy of their antics. The content we felt in their company. The fear when they were missing and the relief when they make it back safe and sound.
This is what Farewell North is about and unfortunately to really feel the impact of these memories and emotions, we need a little sadness.
Will you feel sad? Yes. Will you cry? Probably. Will you regret playing it? Never.
