Traffix is a traffic simulation puzzle game where you control the flow of traffic at various junctions around the world. The eye catching clear clean graphics make the game great to look at, however long spells may result in some eye strain due to the white screen.

You can see my first look video here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQeFHJwWGRw&t=311s

The concept is simple change the traffic lights at various junctions to allow a certain number of cars safely pass though. Stars are awarded based on the number of crashes you have. The levels increase in difficulty with more junctions, more cars or more happening on screen.

I found the game a little tough from the offset, some due to my lack of ability. Some due to the interface. This game works perfectly with a touch screen as pressing a junction with your fingers allows a vehicle through is easy and efficient. Having to move the mouse from one side of the screen to another based on the judging of gaps can be the difference between success and failure.

The game reminds me of a game that was released a little while back called mini metro, essentially and underground train simulator which has you transporting passengers from one station to another. The graphical style is very similar and the challenge slightly higher meaning there is more strategy to it.

If you are looking for a clean tidy game to fill a few minutes, then I would suggest this. If you want something similar that would fill a few hours I would suggest mini metro.

I would suggest checking out this game on mobile if you are looking for a casual game while out and about.

I do recommend the game, based on it being cheap enough to get sufficient value you for money, Although I suspect at £3.09 the mobile app might be a better purchase.

I picked up Tennis Elbow Manager 2 recently being a sports fan (although tennis isn’t one of those I follow closely) I had heard of the Tennis Elbow games previously, but had never played one. I thought I would give the game a try and you can see the footage here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ioDGTvVH2M

You take on the role of a tennis coach trying to train the next Nadal or Federer (or Williams’s sister as the female game is available too). You do this by picking the training, competitions, sponsors, coaches, and various other options for your players.

Once you have trained and travelled you are ready to jump in to a Tournament.

The matches can be viewed in 2d or 3d although only 2d matches can be skipped to an instant result.

There is a lot to like about this game. Firstly it gives a sense of achievement when you see your player improve. Winning that first match is a rush.

However, there are a number of things that are left are unsaid in the game when you first begin. Knowing what various lines, colour codes and how energy vs breath and short term vs long term form. Is the key to the game but you have to figure out for yourself.

The game is early access, it has a lot of potential and the Dev has commented on my videos which indicate they are watching and looking to make improvements as the game progresses.

I think there is a long road ahead for this game but with listening and hard work this game could be a gem.

Thought I’d just spend a little time writing a review for Rescue HQ. Having received a key for the game, I found myself losing a few hours to it in first play.

If like you me you enjoy a business management / building game then this game is one to add to the list. It’s an interesting concept that has you building a headquarters for all of the emergency services.

Then you have to respond to various emergencies, managing vehicles, crews and equipment to give yourself the best chance to deal with the situation successfully.

I enjoyed my time with the game (about 5 hours so far). I will say this sits more at the casual scale of the management / building genre.

I recorded my second playthrough of the game which you can find here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QR_yGK_IBaU&t=30s

I would recommend the game, however £20.34 seems a little on the high side for what you get in the long term

OK so firstly I should say this is more a first impression than a review. It wouldn’t be fair to review the game based on the limited time I have played. As an additional caveat I should highlight I know very little about the finer details of horse racing, training and breeding. That being said I love management & simulation games which is why I ended up trying this game. Below is my first impressions video, if you’re looking for a video showing the game in a bit more detail.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gDiZEy6ggc&feature=youtu.be

From the get go you are greeted by a very bland opening screen, with no music. There is a large number of settings including full screen and windowed, various graphic and measurement unit options. Once in the game the UI and layout leave you feeling more confused than in control. A lack of tutorial or even a list of to-do’s mean you are thrown in to the deep end without any real instructions. That said there is a whole host of information on numerous screens that I’m sure for people in the know of horse racing terminology would be useful.

Unfortunately there isn’t a help guide in game either, just a PDF that you can view online. This is fine; however I don’t want to refer to a PDF while I’m deciding what training to assign a horse simply because the developers haven’t put tool tips for it.

Once you get to a race the graphics are probably that of a mid-2000’s rather than 2019 game, but they do well enough to convey the action. Having no bars or gauges on the screen mean you have no idea if your horse is doing ok, or is struggling until the action unfolds.

The commentary is a bit unusual; it does a good job of keeping up with the action, but lacks from not having any emotion.
There were a few moments where I’d expect the game to prompt me to do something before continuing, missing a race was the big one.

I didn’t get to the breeding, or anything else in the first impression of the game so cannot comment on them at present.
My final thoughts.

I’m not sure that the game is quite what I hoped it would be. I feel that the game will be popular with those who are followers of horse racing. It could have the potential to break the boundaries and let gamers without that knowledge learn and grow to love the sport. However, in its current format the learning curve is far too steep (without and aid) to endorse it to those who want a management sim without a background knowledge of horse racing

In its current form and for my purposes I cannot recommend it for the price it is available for. However if the developer spends some time working on the accessibility options for newcomers they might be on to a good little management sim.

I will just say its at times like these i wish steam had a few more options for reviews, the real feedback is keep an eye on it see if the developers continue you to work on it after release.

Resort Boss: Golf is a quirky little management / building game.

I received a press copy of the game which had some sped up game mechanics to allow me to see more of the game.
You can see my initial thoughts and reaction here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0nx1ae7hxI&t=2s

The game itself is very relaxed one with quirky graphics and a chilled vibe. This could be one of its greatest strengths but also a weakness. At present you can build club houses, hotels and restaurants along with the course itself. You can then watch the players come and play your course viewing stats on their games.

Additionally you can play your own course, which was a fun addition. (This is very basic)

My concern is what else is there. The developer has added managing VIP guests and hosting tournaments which all sound great. I just worry a little about the longevity

I would recommend it if you’re looking for a chilled out management game. If you like your management games a bit more intricate I would suggest looking elsewhere at least for now.

My time is short with Megaquarium so I will keep the review short.

I was sent a key by the developer to make some content for youtube. After playing for the first hour or so I have to say I am impressed and keen to play some more.

The graphics are very cute and the game has a seriously chilled out vibe.
I only did the first section which was very much an introduction to the concepts of the game. There was enough there to make me know I would enjoy sticking this game on again and playing it to relax and enjoy.

My only concern is does the rinse and repeat of the levels get boring even as new things are added to each map. I cannot not answer that at the moment but I will be returning to the game.

Anyway my recorded footage is below if you want to see my first 40 mins with the game. (this was the review code so something may have changed since)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYiVk-3ANEo

Would I recommend the game? Yes, if you like relaxed chilled out simulation then very much yes.

Almost Alive is a game that takes some inspiration from the early fallout series and the top down shooter. It classes itself as a tactical combat RPG. I’m not sure how true that is, but truth be told I am pretty bad at the game.

There is some stuff I love about Almost Alive the free form combat with RPG element, the character creation (the options could lead to some real interesting characters), and the loot.

But there are some things I am also not so keen on. The writing style feels like it’s trying to be edgy and funny. In a way it fails at both in the short segments I have played. With this said trying to portray a pyscho, depressed joker in a conversation is possibly a tough thing to achieve. I also disliked the quick save (camp) option. It always feels a little odd I am in a dangerous waste land with danger around the corner…. Ill back off from battle and set up a little tent, get my stove out and make some beans for dinner. Just give us a quick save we all know that’s why it’s there.

I can’t comment on the length of the game, I played for a couple of hours and didn’t get to far. It’s very unforgiving. That will be a great thing for some people but may deter some casual gamers.
I can’t really comment too much on the story / RPG element yet either. I played a couple of mission. Which you can see here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSOyVr4pis4

Do I recommend the game?
I think it has potential, however we know that potential and early access can end in a great game or a terrible game. If you’re not sold after watching the video, I’d suggest adding it to a wish list and keeping tabs on its progress.

Dig or Die is a game that comes in to a market with a couple of really good & loved games in Terraria & Starbound. This obvious comparison is a little harsh because it does try to be different. However a side scrolling building game like this the comparison will always be made.

For openness the developers provided me a key, well two so I could show off the multiplayer. Which you can see here if you would like to.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyJOXSyCRO8

So firstly after 2 attempts we didn’t manage to survive the first night. As time went on we slowly progressed and managed to make it through a few nights. I do love the tower defence element this game brings. I believe it adds something really compelling and fun to the game.

But since the above comparison does get made the game feels like it’s lacking something from a base building point. The games above allow you to make pretty much anything and everything. Here the options are limted to only the required. Maybe having some additional options early game would encourage more elaborate base building, for those that just want to build.

Graphics are cute, sound design seems fine if not a little limited. The rain is insane, but that adds a little something to the proceedings. I would recommend the game. However I’m not sure how long it will last, but who knows what else might be added.

MachiaVillain is a fun little basebuilder with a difference. I should make it clear I was given a key for free from the devs. But the views expressed in this brief review and not influenced by that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vun728Z07Jw
Having a massive love of rimworld I was excited to see the developers had highlighted it as one of their inspirations. However the likeness to rimworld are mainly seen in the UI rather than the gameplay.

In MachiaVillain you build a mansion and lure helpless victims to it to feed your minions and fulfil your evil contract.

I have enjoyed my time with it, however where rimword excels in keeping you on your toes by throwing an vast supply of random events at you. Machiavillian suffers from becoming a little bit of a grindfest. That said for the few hours I have played I have enjoyed.

The graphics are nice the sound good, although im not sold by the voice acting in the intro. I think if the devs add a little variation to the day to day life maybe add a few things for the victims things to do while there at your mansion. It might flesh out the experience for the better.

With the above said I would recommend the game the price point seems about right. Im just not sure it will have me returning like Rimworld does.

Firstly can I say a big thank you for the developers for sending me a key to try the game.

I have played the game for an hour, which you can see the game play below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GleWmg_laRI

The first thing that struck me about the game was the seemingly unmistakeable resemblance to the Rimworld style of graphics. That is almost where the similarities end. Rimworld thrives on story, relationships and the day to day survival of your colony. Keplerth is more an individuals quest to survive after waking from a long sleep.

From the offset enemies are outside the room you wake in and you must decide to fight or flee.

The gathering, and crafting have been seen loads of times before but that doesn’t mean it’s not an intriguing title that could develop in to something much bigger.

I will say that I felt a little lost for things to do once I have crafted most of the items (it is early access). I guess that’s what will make or break this game, the reasons to play it. If you want a charming space survival / crafting game there is starbound , if you want a base builder there is Rimworld. If you want something in between there is Keplerth.

All in all I suggest keeping an eye on the development it will be interesting to see where the developers take it they do however have a solid base to build on.

Oh and don’t forget to go underground
