Game is eternally under maintenance. Will change my review when the game becomes playable.

Halo franchise's attempt to modernize the Halo platform falls flat. Compared to older Halo titles, it's clunky and strangely paced. The guns have a deep sound to them but they feel like you're shooting nerf bullets by how much it really takes to kill someone. Sprinting does up the pace of the game a bit but in tandem with the slide mechanic that has a MEAN input delay - the pacing is just thrown way way off. Cosmetics are tied behind level and battle pass progression and these levels are locked behind challenges that refresh every few hours. Rank up requires 1000+ exp while the challenges only give 100-300 exp a piece, and so you end up playing for 10 minutes just to level up once (maybe) and then you have to wait a few hours to progress to the next level. You can't play your favorite game modes, you can queue for quickplay and that's it. You only wanna play Slayer/SWAT? Too bad. The gunplay is fun but the game hardly capitalizes on the things that Halo has done particularly well in the past and fails to capitalize on gameplay mechanics that make other modern shooters entertaining. The gleaming bright side to the game: It's free.

August 25, 2016 Review: Trash game for $60 dollars. Developer lies and overestimation and overexcitement of the features of the game. Don't buy it.
