First things first FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PUT THE GAME ON A SSD

It's a long game, really really long, I have not finished it yet, and it took me more than 25 hours to get all the grips on it.
Tutorials are not really doing a good job, and you'll need to EXPLORE (AHA) to find how it works correctly.

Here some tips (be aware I'm using AZERTY keyboard so it may be different letters for you)

  • Use your scanner F and point to your objective / ship, using E will let you fast travel to the objective of the quest you're following without opening the map. Pretty useful when exploring planets, in space or in New Atlenta.

  • Though it's useful in those cases, if you leave a planet it may be best to use the map for the fast travel, since it let you skip the "launching" animation, so it's faster.

  • If you're inside a building of if there's no checkpoint to teleport directly somewhere else, you can still do it with the map and fast travel anyway from here. There's some exceptions to this rule, but finally, you can do it inside unlike the old games.

  • You can run while overcarrying stuff. Can you actually believe it ? But don't hoard too much stuff, cause you can't fast travel and it's still long because you need to pause often to catch your breath.

  • Your safe in the Lodge has infinite space so you can put stuff without limits in it.

  • In space, you can aim at any ship with E, use E again to start a communication with them. If you're close enough you can board them with R.
If it's ennemy ship attacking you, you can still board it, but you need to disable their engines first. To do that either shoot randomly in it and hope you're aiming right so the ship don't explose, or buy the level 1 perk "ship VATS" to aim directly the engines.

  • If your ship sucks to fight in space, maybe try to buy a ship other that the starter one.
+ upgrade your ships perks before doing those missions.

  • Space battles between ships is really hard to get the grasp on. You can choose where the energy go and see the health of your ships parts on the left, blue / white means it's alimented, red it's down and need repair.

  • When you open the map or the mission logs, don't use Esc or Tab to close it, re-use the same button you use to open it. I know it sound dumb, but if you're doing Esc ou Tab on the map you will do "local map -> planet map-> system map -> galaxy map" and it will be tedious.

It's a fusion between Fallout, No Man's Sky, Mass Effect city hubs on different planets instead of one big map...

  • Classic building of the cities, quests, instances from old Bethesda games. You like the old Bethesda game ? You got the old Bethesda game.
  • Base building is basically the same from Fallout 4
  • Travel on different planets to do missions (find new cities, space stations, ships by exploring systems)
  • Explorations of different biomes
  • Analyse of the (plants / animals / stones) like No Man's Sky
And others stuff.

- Perks tree can be annoying to unlock I guess, not a problem when you start doing quests, you'll up fast (bounties or explorations quests)
- No Man's Sky before the exos update, it means a lot of walking when exploring planets. If's it's a desert without life it can be boring.

Also, I would advise to really change the settings to your liking. I put everything down to up the resolution and the game is better for me like this. I should upgrade my rig but eh, it's still looking fine for me even on med/low so I don't care for now.

I can imagine this with a better computer, and mods, damn. I will replay this game in better conditions one day.

I could write more stuff, but it's a game about exploration right ? I already said too much.
It's fun, especially if you already like the last Fallout, and No Man's Sky too.
You'll also need a lot of time to lose. A lot.

I can like clunky games, but not if it's literally unfinishable because of game breaking bugs. My character just instantly die for no reason while walking... I guess he was sick of life and went with the angels for good.

When the only way to save is to use checkpoints sometimes (when there's one) between fights. When you need to close the game during a fight because the game stuck after an ennemy death cinematic...
I get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ at least 5 times when I was winning because of this . Frustrating when you're fighting a boss.

And after killing the "final" boss , I closed the game two times because his death sequence froze it. I'm actually too bored to do it a third time now (and maybe getting another crash).

Note;I thought the death of a character was definitive, but they're still alive after the fight and just got a penalty for the next quests. I was redoing the missions for nothing to save them all...

Edit : I can't finish the game, the last battle bug EVERYTIME I beat the final boss. Yeah, awesome.

Edit 2: I forget to tell I managed to 100% the game... but I still got a black screen after beating the final boss, so no "end of the story" for me, even if the 100% achievements was doable.

Well I wasn't expecting to like it so much I'm quite surprise!
The lore is awesome
The characters are awesome (team Twig), even the supporting roles are lovable
And gosh be happy they nerfed the difficulty of the Boguin's Cannon if you're a completionist

Remember Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes ? the infiltration prequel demo you paid 20€/$ (without sales) to play before the release of Metal Gear Solid V ? Well it's the same idea. But it's free.
