This is the best singleplayer game I have ever played, by far. If you're looking for a Metroidvania, than this is it, chief. There are two things that this game does better than any other Metroidvania: Environment and bossfights.

The world is beautifully hand-drawn. Each area has a distinct personality; Deepnest is maze-like and unnerving, Greenpath is lush and alive, City of Tears is somber and depressing, Crystal Peak is, er, crystalline and somewhat industrial, et cetera. This game is beautiful. It's also fairly easy to navigate [except for Deepnest], but there isn't much telling you where to go next. I found the essential locations which progressed the story fairly easily, but I admit that I needed a guide to get 100 and later 112 percent. I'm nominating this game for best environment, and if it doesn't win, I'll feel sad.

The bossfights are all well-designed, with a wide range of difficulties. Most of them follow a pattern where the boss telegraphs and performs an attack, and you try to hit them only when it's safe. In the new Gods & Glory Godmaster update, there is a sub-area where you can fight every boss again, and it also has 5 boss rushes. It's impossible to find without a guide, though, so look it up.

Other good things in this game are the rich lore and impressive soundtrack. It also has a permadeath gamemode after you beat the base game, which represents about half of my 170 hours played. I finally beat it recently, and I feel accomplished.
