This is really really bloody good. Super fast Quake-like movement in a custom engine, with the aesthetics of N64 stuff like Turok and Perfect Dark. A healthy dose of levels with absolutely massive rooms to bomb through. It also seems to run well on basically anything, apparently even machines old enough to run XP according to the dev? I easily got a full 120hz out of my Steam Deck when docked. Super robust controller support as well - not super common in a game like this!!

It's also just a very good name to say out loud. Zortch. Zortch. I Zortch, you Zortch, he/she/they Zortch. Whenever someone asks what the hell I'm playing, I get to be like: "Yeah dude, I'm Zortchin it". That's worth the price of entry alone!

A great little appetiser for the upcoming N64 Zelda-like "Azaran: Islands of the Jinn"! I had already played the demo for the latter earlier this year and came away very impressed.

This one's going for more of a Zelda 1 feel - as you'd expect for the price, it's a handful of dungeons that'll last you just shy of a couple of hours. They're just the right kind of cryptic and really impressive work, especially given the short timeframe they were produced in.

The difficulty spikes a bit after the first dungeon, but I had a great time regardless. If you know the core Zelda language of pattern recognition, wall smashing and block pushing, you should have no problem. I have very little I can fault it on otherwise. A strong recommend!

This was a great time! Overall a little smaller in scope than I expected, but cathartic to finally dig into after having followed it from its Kickstarter origins. I actually went into the game fearing I’d lose interest and abandon it midway - but for the most part, I think they pulled it off! It can be uneven in spots, but by the end I found myself very pleasantly surprised.

NOTE FOR PARENTS: it’s worth mentioning that overall, the game does have a slightly... edgier sense of humour than expected. Not in a bad way at all (the horror-themed "Subcon Forest" in particular has some wickedly dark gags; big laughs from me), but perhaps not as kid-friendly as you'd assume at first. Mentions of death and killing, threats of violence, some intense scenes. Probably fine for most kids older than 7 or 8, but discretion is very much advised!

Really cool, goofy and slightly spooky Metroidvania! Short, sweet, stylish, and highly replayable. Absolutely one of my favourite games I've played in recent memory! We Are Peter Shorts.
