If I were to write this review in a shortest way I can and still capture how Hunt makes me feel, it would go like this:

It's a rollercoaster of switching between dying in agony over despair after missing a shot and feeling more alive than ever when enemy misses their shot in return. And doing it over and over in a deadly dance of two (or more) dunces. Surprisingly, killing an enemy isn't as much fun as it's simply a way off the rollercoaster.

To write in more detail - the game lives by its gameplay.
Yes, the graphics are very good.
Yes, the sound design is on point - enough so, that listening to sound cues can give you enough knowledge to figure out who is where. Songs are also neat and in line with the game's character.
Although no actual story is being told in the forefront, the lore is getting ever so nuanced and richer with new characters, events and monsters.
But at the core of this awesome game lies gameplay. Stakes are high due to permadeath on Hunter characters we play and by very slow weaponry that takes forever to reload in a gunfight. This also lengthens the simplest duels, gives you time to be tactical, simply smart, cunning at times, better with your resources - or - simply better at hitting an enemy. There are many ways to win, and many to grow as a player in this game.
Tensions run high as in this out-of-horror environment full of grotesque creatures the map is stalked by true monsters - the other players. While most won't be, any noise could be an enemy. So you'll be scared, and grow nervous as the tension rises. And then a fight happens, letting you release all of the pent up emotions either in glorious victory, pathetic death, or just a cowardly escape.

All in all, it's a great game. Perhaps I got lucky and didn't face as many bugs or disconnects as others apparently have, and probably have met no more than 10 aim bot cheaters in 700h of gameplay. But even if I would have seen more faults, I think there's no way to deny - this is a great game we have here, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
