DLC Review: A True Successor to Elden Ring?
Introduction:

FromSoftware is a company renowned for consistently introducing innovations in the gaming world. Their latest Elden Ring DLC appeared to follow this tradition. Initially, my expectations were modest when purchasing this DLC; I expected a few new bosses and some additional content. However, the experience delivered by this DLC exceeded my expectations, offering content as expansive and deep as the game itself.

First Impressions:

The scope of the DLC warrants being called Elden Ring 2. It’s packed with many new features built on top of the original game, along with challenging and high-quality boss battles that elevate the Elden Ring universe to a whole new level. FromSoftware’s two years of work on this content is evident in every detail. This approach to DLC, which redefines the concept, once again proves why the company is so beloved by gamers. I believe other companies should take inspiration from this kind of DLC approach.

Gameplay and Experience:

However, after completing the DLC, I noticed a few aspects that slightly overshadowed my experience. For the first time in a FromSoftware game, I didn’t feel a satisfying sense of progression with my character. The core essence of Elden Ring, rooted in exploration and growth, gave way to monotony after a certain point in this DLC. With leveling up becoming meaningless and the primary focus shifting to searching for "blessings," I couldn’t fully experience the sense of development. Even after collecting all the blessings, I felt like my character hadn’t progressed enough, diminishing the main enjoyment that the DLC was supposed to offer. While previous FromSoftware DLCs allowed me to experience this feeling intensely, this time, I couldn’t find the same satisfaction.

Conclusion:

Despite these issues, I would still recommend this DLC. With its rich content, challenging boss battles, and the innovations it brings to the game’s world, it is definitely worth playing. However, it’s essential to note that it has the potential to become tedious after a certain number of hours. While FromSoftware has made a significant contribution to the gaming world with this DLC, the lack of a strong sense of exploration and progression may impact long-term player satisfaction.
