Game keeps going stuck, it almost never autosaves and I have nearly no choice of freedom. The bastards who called this game open-world are liars. It is a decent game yes but a game that doesnt let you loot dead npcs and calls itself open world is just disgusting. You can literally unclothe enemy corpses but you cant take sh*t off of other stuff. F*CK YOU
edit: non enemy npcs are overpowered and killed me really easily, but enemies are 2 hit kills. AND THEY F*CKING CONPLAIN ABOUT BEING RAIDED! I have not played a lot but the pace of quests are really slow, I hope the game will be more fun as I play more. This is however the only game ever that has pissed me off through methods other than teammates that deserve to have their organs be eaten alive by rats after torture that forces them to suffer while awake, so even if I do end up having fun im still not gonna recommend this game. It isnt bad, its just not what it was advertised to be. I'm not refunding this, but i'm close to. Play cyberpunk 2077 instead, or get a job if you cant afford it.

Edit 2 (2 years later): play new vegas instead

Payday 2 is an excellent game, that despite the end of support by overkill, still remains the most played and popular heist shooter ever since it was released over a decade ago. By the way, the graphics still hold up. While its 70GB size may appear daunting to a new player, the amount of guns, heists, masks and original music tracks more than justify it. In fact, I would argue that it is the most extensive shooter of all time, in terms of sheer content. The replayability is unparalleled out of all the shooter games I've played due to random variations in map generation as well as the wide array of builds to fit every playstyle. The game's 1300 achievements are greatly varied, making achievment hunting a genuinely enjoyable experience. Lastly, the game has a ton of hidden lore that leads to a progression line that's very satisfying to complete, that involved the entire player community to find out as part of an ARG a few years back, with the first players to solve it having their names immortalised in the game. This demonstrates how engaged the indie studio was with the player community, which is unfortunately now no longer the case. And by that, I mean Starbreeze is NOT overkill. If you read any of the past updates/controversies with the studio, you'd understand why the current studio is dead to a great number of players. On that topic, I'll move onto some of the bad stuff. Firstly, this game runs on 32 bits, meaning it can only allocate a maximum of 4GB RAM. This is not enough to run some of the newest maps on high texture settings, so expect a lot of crashes. In fact, you can expect a lot of crashes no matter WHAT you do. Crashes and freezes are frequent in this game, so expect to have a couple hours of progresses wiped every few weeks you play. The modding community is nice, but you have to go through a lot of hoops to make the game "playable" with mods. The game runs terribly on low end hardware even a decade after its release, but it's no crysis. It's just poorly optimised. Developers have gone completely off the rails, and content creators are all moving on. Lastly, the playerbase is full of gay furries. I don't know why, but it is.

Below is my old review that is arguably less insightful, but preserved for preservation reasons.

good game for wasting time but you dont actually waste time
