Great animations.

I'm liking how classes build on each other rather than fully replacing.

Must try for any turn-based strategy fans.

If you enjoy 3rd person shooters, give this one a try.

Skins are similarly priced to other free games but you do get some currency for free.

GOAT for the genre.

The game-play itself is fun when you don't get a lobby full of cheaters. Just don't get sucked into spending money on some of the most overpriced cosmetics in gaming.

Even in its current state it's a great game. It's not one of those cash grab early access games. There have already been a good amount of updates, and more are coming.

For the price it's worth it. I'm coming up on 7 hours with off and on play. It's waaaay easier than Luck be a Landlord however (or maybe I haven't unlocked a higher difficulty, not sure).

TLDR: Fun but too easy.

I've put over 8 hours into it so far. Definitely not a game that will keep you playing for hours at a time. I usually just load up a run while eating, then do something else after.

Not a lot of diversity to it. Even different heroes of the same class feel the same after some upgrades. It is a bit on the easier side, but there is an "experienced mode" which I tried and I lost a couple times using that.

6/10, would recommend getting on sale for less than $10.

Roguelike deck builder does not mean Slay the Spire. This game is next to nothing like STS.

Some of these points will be pros for others, but to me they're cons.
-Overly complicated: Countless buffs and debuffs, Too many damage types.
-Setting up a game: I don't want to spend 10+ minutes figuring out what cards I want to craft at the start of a run. I just want to hop in and play and build a deck as I go. I fully recognize this is great for some, but for me it turns this game into a slog.
-Tank is near useless outside of group wide defense. It seems like every fight after the first zone is just a constant spam of aoe damage. I had a stealthed unit with 70% health die just from aoe.
-Downside to cards: Too many good cards come with a downside. Good cards can already seem overpriced, having them also come with a negative effect just makes me not want to use them.
-Healer is pigeonholed into healing. Good luck trying to mix in some damage with your healer, you'll be too busy trying to keep health up from all of the previously mentioned aoe damage.
-Getting currency from previous runs. I thought this was nice at first, but then I quickly realized that if you aren't stacking chests from multiple runs you can quickly fall behind. Makes it feel like you're only supposed to try every 4 runs.


I don't regret getting the game. I put almost 20 hours into it. Was fun enough to try but I have no desire to keep playing.
