As a former MOWAS 2 player, Gates of Hell is a lot of improvement. The devs really respond to player feedback and successful mods from MOWAS 2. I can feel the Robz Realism kind of vibes. The sound effects is incredible, explosions and gunfire is adjusted for immersion. The game is a way lot less arcady than men of war for good reason. Overall, Very Positive!

The gameplay and story is very good, You most likely going to see bugs when doing melee finishers because sometimes the animation is pretty janky. But I do believe this game has the coolest loading screen ever.

Early Access Review
This is a comprehensive review based on my gameplay experiences which other players may disagree but I'm trying to be honest here. BEWARE OF MISSION SPOILERS!

After 200 hours of gameplay in total since the first time the game came out early access back in 2021, I feel like my thoughts on the game should came to light.

One of the thing that a good game must have especially if it features single player, is a good AI.

The AI suspect is tough, so tough that they can wallbang and aimbot you everytime. Ver1.0 suspect is still kind of managable up until you reached the SINUOUS TRAIL mission, tight corners are real nightmare especially at the servers rack. But thats only the beginning because the next one is the GREASED PALMS mission aka the POST OFFICE. God, this place is hell of Los Suenos. After about 20x dying I managed to S rank the mission by remembering all the possible locations of suspect spawns and Flashing every corners. Beyond that, it's a combination of luck and tactics.

Speaking about tactics, the AI teammates still can be improved. Before Ver1.0, AI teammates are able to throw grenades from peeked doors. After the Ver1.0 they will fully open the doors first and EXPOSE themselves to be sprayed by the suspects. What is the point of banging the room if you expose yourself?? You wanted to have the element of surprise so the suspects won't notice it. Either bring back throwing from peeked doors as a feature so you can order the AI to do so (PEEK AND FLASH Order), or fix the suspect's response time and the AIMBOT.

SLOTS. Equipment slots are based on the kind of armored carrier that you wear. If you wear heavier armor, then less slots. For solo players, most of the time you just solo the entire level by yourself because the AI teammate is more of a burden than helping. This requires immense amount of grenades, mags, door jams etc. If the game has some kind of feature where you can request throwables, ammo or equipments from the AI teammates, this would be great.

WEAPONS. Most of the guns is fine especially the models are amazing, But recoil is a bit annoying since sometimes its a matter of live and death during firefights. Imagine you are a highly trained SWAT operator and especially a TEAM LEADER, which is very likely to have the most experience in the team including weapon handling. But you still can't hold the gun forward after firing it in semi-auto??? I understand the stress that operators have to bear during this kind of situations but thats just straight up ridiculous.

UI. The UI can be improved. After Ver1.0 some UI still overlap one another especially in the customizations screen. Also, theres a feature before the Ver1.0 that shows you the highest score achieved on certain missions. This feature is now dissapeared and its a shame because it will be VERY USEFUL as I don't have to start the mission and kill myself first to see the highest achieved score.

Conclusions, I think the devs already done a great job for developing the game up until this far. Loved the works and efforts being put into such a great game. This is going to be the beginning since the game is now out of early access and I am excited to wait for further updates and improvements of the game.

Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat. The enlightened ruler is heedful, and the good general is full of caution.
