As someone who literally burnt countless hours in older Monster Hunter games (MHF/MHF2/MHFU/MHP3RD) as a kid, Monster Hunter: World insanely redefined my childhood and my perspective of the franchise as a whole. I'd sure still love to get my hands on a 3DS/2DS someday to play the other essential generations I've missed out on but I'm just glad that I jumped from MHP3RD to MH:W -- it was just a gigantic leap in all aspects! The graphical and animation jump from my last hunt as a 6th-grader to this kick-ass release is just crazy! Beautiful monsters and nostalgic returns! What a world (no pun intended), really!

This was also my first online multiplayer experience in a Monster Hunter game so it was a blast. A lot has changed given my last MH game but I really liked how that classic "Monster Hunter Feel" didn't go away. It's a crime not to get World if you're a long-time fan and if you are new to the franchise, that good old combination of MH gameplay/mechanics and progression alone should pull a good couple hundred hours from you. Whether you mostly play solo or you like having fun with friends/randoms, as a PVE, the game caters for you.

Aside from an issue I ran into (just can't get those elemental weapon frame drops to go) or a filler-story, which has not always been the focus of the franchise anyway, I don't really see any other reason not to grab the game. Although I do believe that Capcom could've done more for PC gamers in terms of content release time-frames and performance optimizations, at least, I have no problem with getting updates, even major ones, later than consoles. To be fair, they didn't expect PC to do so well. And after Iceborne, who knows what they'll do in their next MH release after getting so much support from the PC community anyway?

It's totally worth the full price from content-depth alone; solid investment while on sale. Iceborne's still two months away so that should be plenty of time to get things done before the expansion drops. So hunt, hunter!
