The events and activities themselves are quite good but it feels very poorly integrated - the content itself is mainly focused on landed rulers, however due to the nature of the activities and events they are more easily accessed and used as a landless adventurer for whom the pack offers less specific content with less effective bonuses from the new lifestyle.

Would rate neutral if it was possible, reason for it being negative is that as part of chapter three I guess its okay value wise but I couldn't recommend it as an individual purchase with how it is currently integrated into the game play loop. Paradox took a step in the right direction in regaining player trust with Roads to Power and this feels like they've immediately fallen back in to the bad habits that have hindered CK3s development post-launch.

Humankind is an absolutely beautiful game, visually and in terms of its mechanics.

It improves brilliantly on all the good mechanics of Endless Legend, throws in some of the best parts of new and old Civilization games, and adds some brand new mechanics that all meld wonderfully.

Honestly I haven't felt this happy with a preorder in a long long time, it's just a very good and satisfying game all round. Defiantly needs some tweaks and fixes but it's 3 days old so that's to be expected.

I am going to share my story with this game, this review will be long but I hope to tell you about how the game was and how it is now so you can all get an idea of if you'll like it and where the game is going. And if oyu are going to read please do read to teh end,I don;t want anyone getting the wrong idea.

I was a Gold Founder for archeage,i supported this game pre-release and played all the beta events, and as any Founder will tell you the Beta was amazing,it was beautiful and it was fun. A huge world where you can craft, build, fight and explore with your friends and make new ones in-game. The beta was truely great and it was an aweseom time.

However, then came the 4-day head start for founders and this is where the first signs of Trions mismanagement started to show, there simply were not enough servers, and this was with knowing exactly how many players they would have as everyone playing had paid for the founder pack, and this started to show poor management. At the time most founders were annoyed about not being able to pay,I was,but thre were also some of us that realised how bad it could be when the game went to open access and Trion wouldn't even know how many people to expect, and on day 5 the servers simply could not cope, there was at most 1 more server added which still couldn't even fit all the founders in so on day 5 there were queues of over 7000 people waiting to get into a server.

Now don't get me wrong, the game is amazing, for those that don't know the game is originally made by a Korean company and Trions runs the game for NA and EU with their main original role being translation (which they still haven;t done completely) all the problems seen in the first month of teh game were down to Trions management, NOT the game.

After week 5 I stopped playing untill December,I had truely lost hope in Trions ability to run the game. But when I took a look at the game in December I got my hope back Trion seemed to be doing there hardest to make up for their previous mistakes,I had not looked untill then but I found out that 2 months into teh game they released a componsation package for all founders afffected by the ♥♥♥♥ storm at launch. They also seemed to have a more friendly relation with teh player-base like they did in Beta and Alpha.

And in the Summer of 2015 with the games 1st Anniversary Trion seemed to have fixed most of their problems, however they do somethimes make gamechanging decisions done by vote on polls without advertising the poll to the whole community.

Since then the game has been improving in general, and apart from some anger within the community about Server Merging Trion has not really made an massivly unpopular decisions.

The gameplay itself tis great, each race has a truely amazing story my faviourite being the Nuian, the combat is fun and different from a lot of MMOs standing comabt, this allows you to,and at times you must, move and fight mobile. you can build ships and dail the oceans, live as a pirate, fisherman, miner, armour, warrior there are huge amount of choices.
You also pick 3 subclasses to make your overall class and you can change them at any time meaning that you are not locked to a single class.

The community is great,I have only ever met a few people who are just toxic towards other players, even most pirates are friendly enough. You will be able to find a guild that suits you,and with my experience most guild leaders are very helpful and kind.

Overall I do recomend the game:
Game itself:9/10
Trion Management:6/10
Community:10/10

Let me start by just saying that this is the best game I have ever played. And I am going to go into great detail on why it is.

First of all the Story. I have just finished the story before writing this review(thought it would be best to finish before reviewing) and it is one of the best stories Bethesda have ever done. The story is well written, deep,at times confussing and shocking and in Bethesda fanshion, your decisions decide how it plays out,and unlike FO3 and NV you can carry on after the main story is finished which is great imo. I think most people that have gave teh story a bad review haven't finished it yet,I'd say the main story is about 20-30hours by itself,i have barely touched outside of the story.

Next is combat,it is much more realisitc and true to lore than some of the other games. Its not like the others where just because you are a high level means you will win your fights, trust me on one thing figthing a Deathclaw on this without Power Armour is a really bad idea. Super Mutants can actually take a hit which adds a new challengeand raiders can actually aim straight which makes the game more challenging whithout making it too hard to be fun. Also the new VATS make combat more immersive by no longer topping time, but by slowing it.

The Power Armour system is great,no longer is it just some late game armour,it now feels impressive and like it has a true purpose. And it will become an extension of your character. The fact that you need to maintain it,upgrade it and mod it to keep it up to par adds to this as-well. So far i've only used 3 types of power armour,t-45,t-60 and Raider. Ik there is X0-1 and t-51 and I think there is one other.

The modding system is great, you can make your weapon exactly how you want, want that semi-auto to be full-auto? Go for it. Want a scope on that laser rifle? Go ahead. The system is great as it is but I am betting on there being a Gun Runners Arsenal style DLC that will add even more mod options.

The town system is a bit tricky to get the hang of but it will help you a lot once you get a few towns up an running with a good income. Of course, you can always just beuild a small base for yourself and let the other settlements get on with their own business, but thats the great thing, its not a key mechanic but its there and its awesome.

To sum up:

Story 10/10
Gunplay 9/10 (for an rpg)
Combat 8/10
Crafting 7/10
Building 10/10

It is an amazing game, and if your a fan of FO then you will love it,if your not a follower of FO but love RPGS you will still love it. I'm gonna say this game will win the vast majority of Game of the Year awards.

-Started in Powys, custom ruler and house.
-Take over Wales in the lifetime of my first ruler
-Die from a "accident" ona hunting trip
-Now playing as my son, turns out he was teh one who caused the "accident"
-Form the Kingdom of Wales
-Not much happens in Wales(as it is now :P) but Kent in somehow uniting England
-Kent somehow falls to a Jewish ruler
-Kent declares a holy war, fight back push kent out and get a nice bit of Gold as compensation.
-Then the problems start,my Brother who is Duke of Powys turns Cathar, this causes a Civil war which ends up with Powys becoming independant.
- Another hunting "accident" then 5yr olds nurse kills him. Now playing as Cathar brother once again as a united Wales.
After a long run of Holy Wars(guess becoming Cathar wasn't that bad) Most of England is under my Rule and after taking Kent the English crown is also mine.
-This is a problem as I still have Gavelkind and I die in War,I still have Wales but England does to the other son, problem being that affter unifying England it is now trying to kill me.
-YAY FOR CAMP FEVER,brother dies and England is mine again.

This sort of pattern continued untill about 1300 where I managed to unify Britain and France under my banner and Make Cathar the dominant religion in teh Catholic group.recently been playing the same game on EU4 which is a great thing to be able to do.

CK-EU-Vic-HoI are all great games, but for people that liek a more RPG element to their strat games CK2 is teh game to go with, the House system is great,if you like Game of Thrones then this will apeal to you(go ahead and make the Starks take over Europe) but the one thig that makes this game(although you need DLC) is being able to then carry over to EU4 and if you then get the community made converter carry on to Vic2 aswell.

No-one beats Paradox in strat games, and this game is a perfect example of it.

Early Access Review
First off i would like to say that this is a review made at the time of the first EA build so things will change.

After a slightly delayed release there were problems, and there still are however the Devs are awesome and have already released a patch on teh first/second(depending on where you live) day of the games release. There are still bugs but thats the point of early access is to test, find and fix ready for actual release.

The game looks great, even on low settings it still has a decent level of quality(although you want view distance on at least med) but one probelm ppl are seeing is that they are getting low frames, lag etc on setting that they should be able to run on,but the game still hasnt been optimized and when it is I'd say most ppl with a card above 1gb will be able to run on med settings. And when Windows 10 and DirectX12 come out this will mean any card that can use DX12 will gain an even better boost to their graphics.

The gameplay is great,I havent had much time on multiplayer as i keep getting infinite loading screes on them, but apparently this is a bug lots of ppl are getting and it is being looked into. But the gameplay is amazing, truely unique, and singleplayer is..well... a challenge but makes you more cautious i guess esspecially of stalker typer creature(♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Sabertooths) but the collecting, crafting, building, fighting, taming(not an easy task) and all the other main game mechanics work fine.(By the way, thatch foundations dont work well, get wooden ones ASAP)

The only thing i can complain about is that the founder items dont respawn with you,so you lose your saddle ot hat skin on a server then unless you get it back off your body then you need a new server to get them again(or new chara if you want to take that option)

But all in all this is a great game, the devs are great, support is great and once this game is finished optimized it will be one of the best games ever made(and will be the best survival)

Just hope that the devs keep their enthusiasm for updates after full release(I think they will )

Update: Well the devs have kept pumping out content, fixes, optimization and its all been good. The game continues to get more and more content and is getting better and better. This really is a game in its own catagory,it re-defines the survival genre and is everything you could hope for in a survival and more.

One of the best strategy games out there. Represents the conclusion of the vision that began with Civ 1. The game play, visuals, music, and replay value are all amazing - even without the DLCs. Whilst Civ 6 is an amazing game in its own right, 5 maintains that same feeling as those games that came before - it ties up all that development into one game that is just a pleasure to play.

The ultimate 'why not' game. Absolutely amazing game, one of those proper "here's your Lego, go at it" type of sandboxes. It is a tragedy the sequel isn't living up to the KSP name because the game is responsible for so many people getting their first look into physics, engineering, aerospace etc, and using that drive to go on and make a career out of it.

10/10 - Always willing to fly headfirst into the sun.
