Unfortunately doesn't work using the PSVR2, it recognises the controllers as touch controllers but doesn't recognise the inputs. Recommending it tho because with my time of using VROCKER with a quest, the app was very responsive, very easy to set up and walking in Fallout and Skyrim was extremely immersive. PLZ ADD SUPPORT FOR PSVR2 THO

If you're lucky enough to even get into a match, you'll be even more lucky to finish the match without the host rage quitting after being knocked down once, forcing the entire lobby back into the main menu. I've played six matches and have not been able to finish a single one.

I really want to play this as I've been a big fan of GOHOME, ItimatuSuzuka, her unique style and I've been looking forward to this. Unfortunately I can't as I can't progress as soon as I encounter the first enemy, since once the cutscene finishes, the camera is frozen in place, yet I can still move around, so the ghost is able to grab me easily (chilling cutscene too). Real shame too as I loved everything about it up to that point : (

Unless you want your CPU to be fried at the end of game play then I wouldn't recommend this game sadly

New World has been nothing but a consistently loud fan noise due to the fact that it absolutely loves to hog around 60% of my CPU usage in the empty spaces and don't get me started with player populated towns, which take up a really small 98% of usage and extreme temps.

There is nothing I can do about this, changing my graphics settings only affects GPU usage (tested as everything low) and I can still do that without any problems, so it is just a CPU problem, yet I have an i7-7700k which beats the recommended specification of New World. THE RECOMMENDED!

I am unable to change the priority of the program since it just won't let me (I just get "Access Denied") Capping the frame rate to 30 only solves a small amount and so does lowering the resolution. I can play ESO fine without having to worry about my hardware commiting self arson so why not New World?

Until I am able to enter small establishments without the CPU acting up I really can't play this game, for the safety of my hardware which i s a shame since I was just beginning to like the game too and get right into it.

I have had this Natural Locomotion driver for around three minecraft days, I have to say it is the most innovative VR thing I have had for a while. Whilst I do think that performance needs to be improved (CPU usage is 25-30% on my I7-7700k and for some reason makes my mouse all choppy), the actual locomotion is smooth and as the title suggests, natural. You really can feel like you're in the game walking around. My main method of locomotion is using the hand controllers because the joy con method didn't work as well, but honestly it is well worth it. I can't really praise enough how better the walking feels to moving with the touch joystick and it finally gives the thumb pad of my Touch controllers a proper use (which btw smart of the dev to utilise an underused feature of the touch controller).

Anyways point is if you have any games in SteamVR then this is a good must have for being a step closer into the game

I do try to like Phasmophobia. In general it does serve itself to be an amazing horror experience unlike ones we have ever seen. However, I feel that there are a couple of issues that need to be addressed in order for this game to be an overall great horror experience.

The first thing I need to address is the player base. Good luck actually trying to get into a match because for the most part the hosts of rooms you join will automatically kick you out for being a lower level. I know that the game is more fun with friends and all that but as a person who has most friends playing on consoles this can't apply to me, and the ones who do play on PC don't play this anyways so finding a lobby is hard. Once you do find a lobby, the people are rather nice, but probably because they're nice enough to let you stay. BTW, a microphone is required in order to play since not only do people kick you out for not having one, but it is a mechanic which allows you to speak to the ghosts, so being kicked out for not having one (which i do) is understandable. I think this game needs an option for rooms to allow room vote, which makes it so that the room population needs to vote on whether to kick you out or not.

The second thing that needs to be addressed is game play. Game play is actually a pretty solid experience. There have been numerous times when I have literally felt my heart in my chest pound from fear which is quite rare. The horror aspect of the game is done rather well, from the first part of finding the room all the way to frantically rushing for the exit without being grabbed and dragged into the pits of hell, its all presented rather well. The maps are gorgeous, the ghosts are not (in a good way) and sounds are terrifying, especially with a nice headphone set up. The microphone mechanic mentioned earlier enhances the game play, making you feel like you're actually there talking to the ghost itself. To that I say well done Kinetic games, you are amongst the few games to actually scare the pooey out of me.

But there are two problems with game play which i think need to be addressed. Problem number one is that screen players have a disadvantage over VR users. There is no doubt that Phasmophobia was built for VR on mind, with an option to play on screen mode. It has a VR feel to it, yet I do like how it transitions from VR to screen very well in terms of gameplay mechanics. People who play the screen version of the game will be restricted to three item slots instead of VR players, which have two hands and two inventory items. You could argue that having two items in your hands with inventory full means you can't open doors but to be honest it doesn't take too long to place the object on a level surface, open the door and pick the object back up. This means that screen mode is quite hard especially on single player (which most of the time you are on thanks to mentioned above problem), since you have to manage items sparingly, which is annoying since rushing back to the van is extremely slow due to how sluggish the player moves. Most of the time you will need to use the torch anyway, so a lot of time is spent only with two items available. Also the fact that VR players can still keep their items active whilst not holding it, yet screen players need to make sure that they are holding it for it to be on means that VR players can have up to a total of 4 active items on them at once, whilst screen players can only have two (which btw is the item they are holding at the moment plus the torch if they have one). This is a major unfair advantage and one that needs to be dealt with.

Problem number two that needs to be addressed is the RNG. The game is ran on RNG and procedural generation of ghosts. The whole core of the game is to find out what ghost you are dealing with by figuring out the visual and audio clues the particular ghost gives. This mechanic is broken. There have been many times in which I have managed to distinct the three main evidence required to figure out the ghost type, yet I have managed to get it wrong. At one session I managed to find out that the ghost left fingerprints, made freezing temperatures and and the very end found out that EMP level was 5, indicating that this ghost was a banshee, yet somehow the ghost was a wraith, despite it never speaking in the spirit box like wraiths do. This happens more than I want it to, which wastes the 30 mins or so waiting around for stuff to happen and forces you to try again. I don't know if this is different in multiplayer lobbies as I rarely get to be in them, but I would assume not.

Upon saying this though, I do think that Phasmophobia is a good game. I understand that it is all done with one dev, which I think that having a small team of maybe four or more people could do this game some good. I admit that the game deserves its overwhelmingly positive review status since it has amazing potential and it definitely does deserve its amazing player count (22,000 at time). I just think that my experience has been quite negative so far and therefore would not recommend the game as of now, although I look forward to seeing how far the game has come throughout the months. With that said, i will continue to play it from time to time and see if stuff does improve.

Overall I say get it if you want a genuine VR horror experience, but if you care about game play then wait until problems get fixed. Thanks for reading my college essay worth of review. <3
