I haven't been the same since I left Neko Arena. Every time I close my eyes, I am haunted by those villagers whose lives we took. I cannot escape the smell of death - of kerosene, charred flesh and the cigarettes we lit over their corpses. We were junkies, high on war. Nothing mattered to us except the next kill, and the amphetamines they forced on us to keep our soldiers in the fight.

I can no longer hold my wife at night. I still love her, with all my heart - but I know now what my hands can do, and I'm terrified of what they could still. Instead I lie awake, staring into the dark.

In my brief moments of sleep, I find myself back on that familiar beach, surrounded by the enemy. Only there do I feel truly at home. I feel the weight of the rifle in my hands; the stray bead of sweat across my brow. As a tropical breeze kisses my fur, and the sun sets over the water, I once more jump into the fray.

Now I am become Neko, destroyer of catgirls.
