Kinda boring tbh.

This game is horrendously below average and it uses VR to hide behind the fact that it's a bad game. Not even worth $5.

This game is a laggy mess. For how horribly it performs, I cannot recommend it at even $20, which is what I paid for it. Refunding.

Okay at best, a clunky and uncomfortable pile of crap at worst. Super toxic community, bad menu interfaces, and terrible gunplay. This is NOT worth $25. I'd probably pay like $7 max for this.

horrible graphics, horrible optimization, no ultrawide support for refresh rates over 60. I didn't even get into the game and it ran terribly, and there's no reason it should run terribly on my computer. how this game stays afloat is beyond me. i didn't even pay for it and I feel gipped.

I really wish I could put my review as mixed, because I both love this game, but I think it doesn't live up to what it could have been. This game is really fun with a fantastic combat loop, and really pretty levels.

However, outside of that, it's sub-par or outright disappointing. The game feels like a total parody of itself.

Everything that made Doom 2016 great was turned into nostalgia-bait gimmicks and parodic fan service. It should have taken its presentation as the same as Doom 2016

SPOILERS:

The video-gamey approach, such as floating weapons/items, extra lives, floating question marks for secrets, are extremely cheesy and make it hard to take anything other than the gameplay seriously. It feels like it's one step away from being a meme game. It feels like a bunch of nostalgia bait was crammed into it, and it feels really arcadey.

The portrayals of doom guy where he talks is cringe-worthy at best. I like that they tied the slayer to the classic doom guy, but the approach was just all wrong.

And last but not least, fighting the Khan Maykr and the Icon of Sin were the most disappointing fights I've ever encountered. They don't feel like a test of skill, but more of an endurance test. Fighting them was more of a chore than anything else.

Not to mention the Icon of Sin's design is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful. Let's just put this ancient eldritch goat head onto the body of a raging bodybuilder, and put really hideous armor on it. Then you get to relive Doom 2's icon of sin fight by shooting at a wall, only this one requires less skill and frustration because the weak spots are out in the open.

Doom Eternal had so much potential and failed in many areas. While I do enjoy playing this game, I can't recommend it because it's such a letdown in all the ways I've listed. It's a gimmicky, borderline meme game with fun combat.

Also the menu sounds are ear-splitting. Why did id want to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ destroy our ear drums for just using the MENU?!

id software, if you ever decide to remake Quake 1, please do not ♥♥♥♥ it up.

This is the best VR game that exists currently, hands down. Valve really came through with fleshing this one out. It feels rich in story, gameplay, and functionality. It's probably the best Half-Life experience I've had since I first played Half-Life 1.

EDIT: I'd like to add on that I started playing this game with headphones instead of my headset speakers and WOW this game has some truly incredible soundscapes that totally set the atmosphere. I never felt so frantic or scared before in VR until playing this again. I absolutely love this game. It pretty much ruined every other VR game for me.

The graphics are horrible, the gameplay is horrible, and the controls are horrible. Even for a free game I feel cheated.
