I've heard, liking this one is common among enjoyers of classic Doom. I'm not going to disagree, I very much do like classic Doom and I adore this one. Game of the year hands down and unless Half-Life³ comes along anytime soon, game of the decade. All I miss from this one is Mick Gordon. Bethesda, send him an apology bouqet right now! Or an apology island. Whatever. Just get him back.

I prefer beeps (even without a toggle) to this flarking nonsense any day of the week ending on Y, the rest of it is a great reminder of Marvel indeed being owned by Disney. In direct comparison, that Disney trademark centimeters-thick layer of movie sugar becomes evident.

Writing-wise, this is a great example of light-hearted comic'esque over-the-top adventure, underlined with (also fun) banter & bickering. All of this with way less sugar-coating. Gameplay-wise, it's a third-person shooter (with unlockable abilities which, thankfully, don't overstay their welcome) with emphasis on movement & close-up action (which is always a plus in my book). Which, I'd like to add, gets REALLY cool later in the game when you unlock moar options.

The whimsical writing is a step above the predecessor as it fits the comical near-sci-fi superhero gameplay. Said gameplay got streamlined to the point of dumbed down with less necessity for and space to interact with the 3D environment, same goes for clever solutions. On the other hand, it does work as an unrban superhero power fantasy.

A very enjoyable GTA-like*, easily among the better ones. And hey, they improved car handling!

*Third-person action-adventure in an urban open world with cars & guns.

Writing's horrible. They're trying to make it serious & dramatic, failing all along the way. Gameplay-wise, it feels like a cartoonish over-the-top vigilante comic. Aside from your expert melee/parkour/gun skills, you get an upgradable "use" button for all kinds of stuff in the world. Driving model ITSELF isn't exactly great and not horrible either, getting your attackers ram into a deployable street blockade to put them off sooooo doesn't get old. Neither does blowing up a steam pipe to halt the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you're chasing dead in his tracks. As for the on-foot parts, Aiden's run animation is as horrible as the writing style. Shootouts are cool though, it's a cover shooter with quite a lot of elaborate spaces to invade which is a plus. Camera hopping for recon (& occasional takeout) is a fun gameplay mechanic and ties into the whole hacking topic.

Didn't really expect to like it, I do though. What we got here, is somewhat of a wave-based challenge set on a deliciously freaky island with 4 separate characters to level up. That, and the changed rules around weapons & ammo do indeed force a different aproach which is nice.

Come to think of it, that over-the-top zany nonsense running strong in the series is a great backdrop for a heist movie. Doing ridiculous ♥♥♥♥ for the sake of it really suits the brand. The antagonist's very punchable face doesn't hurt things either.

Absolutely hilarious! Basically that Mad Max-esque LARP story from the main game blown up to amazing proportions. Parody is really strong with that one.

Rather meh. The precursor had likable misfits, here we got a walking clichee, a hovering clichee and a douche. The adventure isn't exactly engaging either. It got its moments of glory, most of it seems like the writers were ticking checkmarks (including but not limited to forced positivity), not feelin' it. Music's good though, a major contradiction right at the climactic end isn't.

The writing's all over the place. Starting with anime's unhealthy obsession with juvenile characters. They do provide an in-universe reason, that is age-suppressing drugs as powers work best in young bodies, yet the interactions are that of insecure and/or edgy teens. Way to contradict yourself! Their motifs don't make too much sense either, twists & betrayals only get you so far.

On the other hand, said betrayals lead neatly into boss fights which are fun! All of them are. Combat's fast & fluid, offering somewhat of a build-your-own-combo vibe which I apreciate. Slashing away @ mutants & dudes is already satisfying in of itself, then there's those psychokinesis attacks (which don't do much apart from eating your mana) as well as psychokinesis combos (which do some really good damage). To top it off, you get cooldown-based special attacks from your teammates meaning the story & who accompanies you throughout provides a good excuse to change the powers you're getting.

Combat spectacle looks good. The visual style ain't too shabby overall, the futuristic dystopia is cool! Hell, I even find myself replaying levels for resources, something I wouldn't do, like, ever, unless the game's fun. Which it is.
