I got this game for free.

I later bought 4 copies for my friends.

They bought more copies for their friends.

I love it

I did not expect a new Age of Empires game.

I did not expect it to be good.

I did not expect to play it this much.

Now I just expect great things from this series!

Do not let the cute anime style shy you away from this game, it is a serious and amazing game that I could not recommend enough at such low prices.

PROS

-Very gripping story about war, loss, racism, torture and the bonds that are formed to fight it
-Amazing characters with rich backstory (even secondary ones have great personalities and tales to tell)
-Innovative and fun turn-based combat, allowing every class and soldier to have a purpose
-Beautifully hand-drawn artstyle
-Much variety in customization for both characters and vehicles
-Extra content such as skirmish battles and more episodes are well done

CONS

-Lot´s of cheesy dialogue spread throughout the game
-A weird and useless "winged piggy" thrown into the story
-Tank controls aren´t very responsive
-No Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 port for PC yet!

All in all, an excellent and seriously underrated game outside it´s genre, despite it´s good steam sales! Where are the sequels?!?!?!?

This game left me speechless... it is a work of art, a masterpiece in almost every aspect. And it will always be, forever.

INTRO:
With 100 hours invested in Fallout 4, I'm pretty sure I can start to write this review. I've been waiting for this game ever since day 1 of Fallout 3 (which was an excellent game) and I was sure that this game would live up to the hype. And the question is: did it? Yes... and no. Mostly yes, but the no's are pretty hard to ignore.

THE YES: Fallout 4 is amazing at what it does right.

-The gameplay (ex: shooting, hacking, walking) is very much improved from previous titles, making it a fun experience from beggining to end. I would recommend the purchase just for the joy of being able to shoot a nuke from a gun into the face of a Deathclaw while you attend your home construction series. V.A.T.S is back and better than ever with the new slow down time and critical effects. ALSO POWER ARMOR! HELL YEAH!

-The graphics/atmosphere: They are pretty good from the macro point of view and give life to the wasteland with its vibrant colors and landscapes (from small forests to hell holes to the occurence of radioactive storms), something the previous titles failed to accomplish.

-The companions: Being an iconic part of the fallout series, companions or followers in fallout 4 range from superb to uninteresting, but the superb ones are just that good. A journalist, a super mutant and a robot detective are the biggest examples of a sidekick done right, and should be an example to other RPG's. They comment on almost every important event in the world, have their own interesting stories (that unlock as you know them more) and can even be romanced. But for the love of god Dogmeat, GET OUT OF THE WAY! Also, #Piper

-The enemies: While most of the old dummies are back, the new enemies and AI's are awesome (28 days later ghouls? Yes please!). That makes them even better to shoot in the face.

-The new junk: Everything is useful!

-The new crafting system: Editing your weapons and armor is not only awesome, but very worthwhile. Pair this bag of awesomeness with the new junk system, and you can have a Knife which is actually on a Sniper which is actually a Revolver. ALSO POWER AMOR EDITING! HELL YEAH!

-Bugs: Compared to other bethesda titles at launch Fallout 4 is a bug-free paradise on a radioactive earth.

THE MEH:

-The settlement/building system: Very hyped by Bethesda and the community ever since their spectacular E3 performance, it showed a very promising system that would eat endless hours of playtime for players who enjoyed a minecraftian-ish adventure. Well, is it any good? Just like the game, yes and no. It has a lot of potential clearly shown by player-made creations through the internet but it is never encouraged by the game itself. Being merely mentioned from time to time due to building obligations for the main and side quests, it is never truely introduced nor is it even given a proper tutorial. And don't even get me started on the the neverending annoying settlement side quests from the *ugh* minuteman.

-The perk system: While not being bad in many ways or forms, the new perk system also fails to shine. The neat perk tree is incredibly user friendly and gives a sense of completion with every new unlock while also making it easier to make the character that you want from the very start. However, some inbalance between the trees and the very restriction of very obvious perks behind trees such as charisma is very annoying, with little creativity being put into what they actually do (ex: increasing damage or resistance) ,making the very selection of S.P.E.C.I.A.L points very boring and pointless.

THE BAD

-The Story: At first I thought Fallout 4's story was amazing. And really, there are some amazing moments. But they are few in number and every single time I stop to think about the story, I hate it more. *SPOILERS BEGIN* Why the FLYING F*CK would either the railroad or the brotherhood want to destroy the institute itself? And plus, WITH ANOTHER FREAKING NUCLEAR DETONATION? The BOS's purpose is to locate advanced technology and they destroy it all? The railroad's purpose is to save synths yet they destroy their only way of getting actual mechanical help or even "reproducing"? And the Institute, well, what the hell type of ending is that. Nothing happens. Nothing really changes about the world in any of the endings. Sigh. *SPOILERS END* It is about the same independently of which side is chosen, which would be forgivable if it was any good. Which it isn't. There was so much potential in Boston with the CIT (MIT), yet it is thrown all away for fetch quests and mostly dull NPC's...

-The Dialogue: ... and is then burned and desintegrated by the horrid new dialogue system. Not much is needed to be said other than SARCASTIC <-

-The Inventory: Now where is that holotape I just picked up...

-Preston Garvey: "But I have something different for you. Go help this settlement for the 10th time, wasting tons of ammo worth more than 700 caps and being rewarded with 100 caps and a pat on the back."

Overall

Fallout 4 is faaaar from being a flawless games. With DLC's it should become an awesome ride, as Bethesda knows how to make them well. But hell, it is fun. And I enjoyed every blasting minute outside of the dialogue system.
