An amazingly beautiful, fun, and relaxing game that's a mix of Doraemon and Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon. 10/10 would recommend to all lovers of chill farming sims.

A good time killer if pixel graphics give you the happy feelsies. Only when on a big sale, tho.

With the 2018 Full Release, Ludeon Studios delivered on their promise and made RimWorld an unforgettable experience. RimWorld is currently one of the best Dwarf Fortress-likes out there so be sure to grab it if it's a genre you find interesting.

This little game might seem inconspicuous at first with its limited color palette and even the premise which is far different from the majority of games revolving around the topic of war. In This War of Mine, instead of playing as a soldier, you join a group of civilians (though solo scenarios are also an option) in their struggles to survive in a besieged city of Pogoren. They're no fighters, they have no belongings, and they seek shelter in an abandoned ruin somewhere within the city. It is up to the player to make sure they make the best of what little they have. You need to make sure they don't starve, don't become depressed, don't freeze to death or get sick during colder days. Nightly bandit raids aren't making things any easier because each raid means that your survivors can potentially get hurt and your resources get stolen. And resources is something you will need desperately for everything from building and upgrading different facilities around your hideout to crafting weapons, medicine, and items for barter. The main way to get resources, and the one you will have to resolve to if you want to survive, is to scavenge at night which can actually be pretty difficult at times, depending on the area and the physical/mental state of your characters. If your character is sick or wounded, depressed or simply not cut for scavenging/combat, your nightly resource hunts become more challenging. And it's quite easy for your survivors to fall victim to different ailments that can (and will) hinder your progress. It's also fairly easy in this game, especially in the beginning when you're still learning it, to drive yourself into a corner where the pool of your choices becomes very limited. Scenarios in which you have to send your starving character to find some bandages because your other character is too wounded or sick to move become very possible and it's exactly then when the game becomes a real depression simulator. You start making rash and desperate decisions which result in your characters going on stealing and killing sprees, slaughtering innocents and taking every last bit of other poor souls' food or medicine. Things get dicey, but I think it's exactly this constant sense of danger and unpredictability that makes this game, or at least the first few runs, an unforgettable experience. But then, once the war is over, you start to wonder... You survived, but for what price? And are we really that much different from our oppressors?

Pros:
+ sorta minimalistic but very pretty, stylized graphics
+ good soundtrack
+ great replay value
+ feels, especially in the beginning
+ interesting premise
+ lots of different playable characters (and a possibility to create your own!)
+ Steam Workshop support
+ by buying DLCs you support the War Child Charity

Cons:
- very limited number of random events which results in you seeing the same events in all of your playthroughs
- once you spend some time learning the game, it becomes pretty damn easy and instead of depression simulator, you end up with a hoarder simulator

A solid 9/10 and easily one of the best games on Steam in my opinion.
