Update;
They have whitelisted Autohotkey through the anti-cheat. I can now easily recommend this game.

Original review:
I cannot recommend this game right now if you're disabled and rely on any kind of software, such as Autohotkey, to make inputs easier for you. They decided to disable the functionality of these kinds of softwares with their anti-cheat. Which does not make sense to me, with this being PVE. And to top it off, apparently the game has a major problem with rebinding keys not working, or resetting. Without being able to rebind my keys, or being able to set certain actions to toggle with autohotkey, this game is unplayable for me. I'm holding onto my copy for now though, in hopes that this all changes soon. I will update my review if it does.

This is incredible. They release the game with some of the worst looking tires I've ever seen. Then, years later, they finally do something about it. But instead of giving to us to fix the mistake, they lock it behind a paywall. Just another reason for me to dislike these devs.

EW knows how to make a pretty reserve, but they seem to have forgotten how to make an interesting one. The reserves are all starting to bleed together at this point. We need a change of scenery, and even some new mechanics. I remember the French Alps from TheHunter Classic. There was a higher section to it that required the player to rock climb in order to reach it. Not everyone liked it, or how the climbing gear had to be purchased, but at least they were doing something new. As others have mentioned, we need to go somewhere fresh, with animals we haven't seen before. Giving us reserves that look like other reserves, and all with the same animals, is starting to get insulting.

Keep in mind when buying this: the two maps are not out yet. They said in their discord that they will be released within 12 months. The only things you'll get from this right now is the shotgun and the statue.

A lot has changed since my initial review, to the point where I can now recommend the game.
Every one of the problems I mentioned has since been patched, and I now find the game to be enjoyable. There are still issues, but it is clear that the devs are committed to taking player feedback and improving the game. It's a damn good hunting simulator.

My initial review:
My first impression of this game is that it feels unfinished. Can't rebind controls. Can't change FOV. Graphics look pixelated, even though they're maxed out. Short list of weapons. Some animal and character animations look rough. Multiplayer is buggy and runs poorly--this is how my friend was stuck after exiting a blind: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2851418133 And all this was just after 2 hours of game play. I know they've already stated they're aware of some of these issues, and are going to patch them, but it just proves the point. It honestly surprises me that it's not labeled as early access.

All that being said though, I'm going to stick with it. I'm hoping this game will turn out good after patching. It's just really disappointing that it needs it.

The electricity meter outside a large building was not up to code.

^That was my initial, negative review, but it was just for a video I made. I actually love this game. It's a vast improvement in my opinion. The location, the vehicles, the weapons, the aircraft, the editor, the challenges, the unlocks; all of those are fantastic.

The story is pretty good. It held my interest, but being repeatedly kidnapped while in the middle of something was rather annoying. Also the DLC was kind of a let down. I would have much rather had more story and locations tied to the game/Hope County than got dam zambies. At least 1 of the 3 DLC should have been tied to the story, I think. I wish there were more mini-games as well. The fishing was fun, but there wasn't a whole lot of challenge there. It got stale pretty quick. The racing was fun. I guess I'm just bummed that Texas Hold'em wasn't in the game.

All-in-all, this is by far my favorite Far Cry game. And even though I haven't played the first Far Cry, something tells me that statement would still be true.

It's a nice addition to the game, one that I agree with most should have been included from day 1, for free; but the reason for my thumbs down is due to the lack of control customization. Lefties and cripples such as myself have asked for customizable keyboard controls since the day it was released, and it is still hard coded to WASD to this day.

[Edit]
They finally gave us the option to rebind the controls! It's YEARS late, but better late than never, and all that. I am changing my review to positive because of this. Although, I'd leave a neutral review if I had the option, for the fact that this should not be paid DLC; or DLC at all.

I sure hope the 2018 edition has rebindable keys.

This game has one of the most fun single player campaigns I have ever played. The story, the characters, the missions, and the world are fantastic. The handling and damage for the vehicles is terrible, but thank god for mods. Mods add unlimited replayability, as you can see by the sad amount of hours I have devoted to this game. LSPDFR alone is hours and hours of enjoyment. The Online portion is okay in my opinion; it gets boring after a while with everything being locked behind levels and enormous price tags; plus there is an infinite amount of hackers and just all around d*uchebags. My main issue with Online though, is that it is the biggest hinderance in the game's potential.

Thanks to "free" DLCs for Online, players began buying shark cards for in-game cash so they could afford the ridiculously priced content. This led to a huge influx of wealth for Rockstar and their greedy publisher, Take Two. Because of how well Online was doing, all the focus was put there and taken away from single player. Because of this, GTA V has zero single player DLCs; which is such a shame. The Ballad of Gay Tony for GTA IV was actually better than the base game and became my preferred choice. I hate to think about the amazing ideas they had for GTA V that we will never get to see. Maybe they thought about origin stories for each of the characters. Playing each individually to see how they started. Maybe the three characters go to North Korea to rescue Dennis Rodman from the gentle caress of Kim Jong-Un, while simultaneously preventing a rocket launch... we'll never know.

GTA Online being the cash cow it is, Take Two would die before letting anyone experience their content without either grinding for hours on end or paying for it out of pocket. That means there are no dedicated servers like in GTA IV where you can play with all the fun mods with all your friends. They also went as far as blocking the content from single player; requiring mods to unlock everything. THEN they went even further and tried to ban modding by going after Open IV, the primary and essential tool for all modding. This act led to my initial negative review, but since then Rockstar delegated a compromise between T2 and the Open IV and it looks like Open IV is back in business. Good on you Rockstar; but as for the lack of single player, that's a bad Rockstar, BAD! Because I am such a big fan of theirs, I like to think Rockstar did not have a choice in the matter; that evil, greedy T2 forced them to focus on GTA Online. If that's not the case, then you should be ashamed of yourselves.

inb4 they release GTA VI, Online ONLY.
