The DLC made this game beyond immaculate and is a completely mesmerizing story which unfolds with your action. An expansive, beautiful, challenging and atmospheric masterpiece with endless possibilities of playthroughs and once-in-a-lifetime experiences, compounded by more of the same with Shadow of the Erdtree.

My only complaint at this point is the tuning and aggression of the bosses, especially the final boss at the end of the DLC. Their relentlessness is matched by their power, and compounded by their misleading attack ranges. No amount of scudatree fragments can fix the fact that your imminent death happens nine times out of ten. sours the experience but not enough to defame the DLC. Regardless this specific boss needs a rework more than any other. 91/100

Early Access Review
Super high quality for being in early access. Even when you hit a wall, progress is still being made in incremental ways that leaves you with just enough internal disappointment to try a run again, but also just enough permanent rewards to see if you can get some more. Love this game and can't wait for each update

I'm definitely a newcomer to tactical rpg's like this and the divinity series, and that does play a part in how the story and combat flows along with my reception of its varying degrees of difficulty. However, even with the elements of D&D 5th edition in play the experience has been soul crushing to understand and move forward with.
In my first run, I played a paladin of devotion, but shot myself in the foot by second level when I lied about handling Lae'zel to get her out of a tight spot and immediately broke my oath. No second chances, no *are you sure?* prompt to remind me about the ramifications of my decision, and if I wanted to return to the light and play true to my character, I had to pay 1000 gold in order to redeem myself. Personally, the execution was in bad taste in both the severity of the punishment and the cost of redemption seeming out-of-touch for what is required of an Oath of Devotion. I was not interested in playing an Oathbreaker, but I had no choice except to start all over again and burn three hours of progress.
In my second playthrough, I had even worse luck and was not made aware of being able to reallocate my ability scores to play an Eldritch Knight like I was intending. While that was not the downfall of my character, encountering gnolls was certainly a factor. I was told after that being 3rd level was too risky and that certainly makes sense: my first encounter had me scraping by on resources but with everyone in my party alive, and yet failing to save made me do the fight all over again, cost an ally, being unable to revive them by the means they explicitly told me due to *necrosis* of all things, and losing my player character to an achievement only 0.5% of players have: letting Astarion bite me on the neck, and dying for it because I couldn't persuade him to stop. Again, I could not revivify myself because not only were we 3rd level, but surely by the time night rolled back around the death timer would have expired. If we're going by 5th edition's ruling, that is.
So while I cut my losses and started a third playthrough in between my busy schedule, I find myself more demoralized to return to a game than I had been in my entire life. It wasn't a matter of getting good, it felt like I was wasting my time and character choices if my fragility and inexperience will result in a cycle of repeated game time that Im sure was unintentional on the part of the developers, but wholly frustrating nonetheless. A friend of mine who has been a part of the early access from day 1 can testify to mine being the first negative experience he had personally seen. I'm disheartened, and sad I cannot enjoy this game for what it could be.

It's free, balanced, beautiful with the right graphics with my only gripes so far being the grindy cosmetic unlocks and the inability to select what game modes I want. Other than that, whats not to like?

Early Access Review
This game is practically addictive, especially it's knockout mode. I was already drawn in by Mattjestic and other wholesome Underlords players with lots of tips and tricks (check them out by the way), yet everything else about the game sucked me in, from the underlords themselves to the euphoria you get with an insane delta slam. i cannot wait for the official season 1 release.

im only writing this review for the grand prix summer sale but in all honesty this a pretty solid time-wasting game. if you have 4 or 5 bucks to spare and want some funny cosmetics for team fortress 2 or borderlands (assuming you don't already) you should check this out, the banter is worth your time.
