I personally got into blender 2 years ago, and have started using the steam build fairly recently. Since then I have been practicing 3D hardsurface modelling. Since the industry is still stuck with maya's robust platform, I will eventually have to study more of that and leave blender for awhile since i plan to get into game dev, but I will never stop choosing blender for personal projects. It takes a little time to get used to, but once youre used it, the fun value increases, especially when you play with your friends. The new insurgency sandstorm may not be for everyone's computer, and the original is still a great game nonetheless which can stand all on its own.
