Playing ULTRAKILL is like immersing yourself in the story and stylings of a conceptual heavy metal album. Angels, hellish creatures and robots all coexsist with each other and they need to be slaughtered. That is of course your job as the player character.

The game combines the fast-paced first person shooter gameplay of an early 'Doom-clone' with the character action genre exemplified by games like Devil May Cry. This makes for an extremely high-octane experience where you madly dash through levels, trying to kill all enemies in your sights as quickly and elegantly as possible.

The game is not even fully finished yet and it has already provided a myriad of excellent challenges and compelling reasons to come back. I tend to have trouble when it comes to games with a high barrier for execution, but ULTRAKILL has wrapped robotic arms of various colours around me and kept me coming back for more.
