Early Access Review
At this time I can't recommend the game. I will not review the game for what it could be but only for what it is currently. It crashes to desktop frequently, there is no tutorial or onboarding, the game does not notify you of certain key events like the trader showing up, villagers suicide trying to recover other dead villagers. I feel there is a lot of work to be done and if the game improves in the future I'll return to this review and update it accordingly.

Just an excellent little roleplaying game with inspiration from the Forged in the Dark tabletop system. Lots of possible endings but best played through just a single time. Despite how mechanical the interaction with the game is a lot of heart comes from where you choose to put your time and energy. Making sacrifices between taking care of yourself and advancing different story threads.

I think the game could be improved by having more story threads but not incorporating them all into a single run. Randomizing some and sprinkling them in to give it a bit more replayability as there are 3 classes to play but no driving reason to play again.

The game crashes every hour and there's no dialogue audio in the cut-scenes.

Apparently there's a 4th act? I have played for almost 200 hours and there's a 4th act!? I haven't been there yet but a 2 year old episode of The Crate and Crowbar says it exists.

Meditative and relaxing. The start of the game felt tedius with all the manually watering but after I got some sprinklers I felt free to relax and enjoy the game. I spend more time talking to the villages and exploring the world. Pet my cat every day and make sure their water dish is full. Don't mind the bone mill in my living room...

This game is fun and unique but it gets really repetitive. There are too many locations in the game where essentially nothing happens. On the locations that things do happen there isn't enough variety to the events. After a couple play throughs you'll see the same events over and over again. Some times in the same run. I would give this game a positive review if there were more events but they would need to at least triple them and make sure you don't see the same ones in the same run.

Artifact intrinsically is a fun game. However, it's not worthy of investing money into. I have opened 10 packs, used my starting 5 tickets and bought a budget deck for $13.21 to play constructed.

The game doesn't tell you any of the rules for keeper draft. It doesn't tell you you can only pick one hero per round.

The game doesn't tell you you can only do one phantom draft every 30 minutes. It locks you out if you want to practice your drafting.

The game doesn't tell you that if you're a novice player you will get destroyed in any of the ticket entry games. I received 0 prizes from my 5 tickets plus 1 (traded cards in tickets).

The game doesn't tell you what your MMR is so you don't know where you stand or why you are losing.

The game doesn't tell you if you are actually playing against humans. It's so lonely in there.

The game doesn't tell you what happened in the match because there is no replay functionality. I want to improve my game!

I constantly get disconnected. When I reconnect I cannot zoom out or view other lanes. If I disconnect while looking at a lane that is not being played I cannot play cards.

You should get 1 free ticket every day to give me a reason to actually try expert play. It's not worth the money investment when I know going in that I will lose.

This game is a very fun narrative driven 4X space game. It's fun to play, learn, explore and to be surprised. Once you have the core mechanics figured out and on your third restart and are ready to actually 'play a game of Stellaris' it really falls short. After the 10 hour mark you get into this endless grind towards inevitable victory. 'Control 40% of planets' is really boring. Sure the crisis is entertaining. Either you are not prepared and die horribly or with cunning or sheer firepower you overcome it. It's just the end goal is so lackluster. What each empire really needs is instead of 4 trait points you pick a victory condition from a list and this condition gives you 3-5 trait points depending on its difficulty to achieve. This game needs something satisfying to work towards when you're in a stalemate with nothing left to research or explore.

This is a game of amazing moments.

I'm on my third mission. Hard. I have to rescue Anteres Cassini from a Glitch ship and within moments I set off the alarm and have 22 seconds to complete the mission. I'm screwed right? Might as well just leave. Nope. I pause and pan around the ship. Anteres is behind a level 2 lock and is three rooms away from a window. I run down the hall and kill a guard with a level 1 key with my quick fire shotgun. 16 seconds left. I dash down the hallway through the level 1 door and use my key cloner to clone the level 2 key from a guard in a large patrol. 10 seconds left. They begin to chase me as I run to Anteres. 6 seconds left. I grab him and sprint to the observation room. 2 seconds left. I fire my shotgun and the window and the both of us get jettisoned into space. He has 8 seconds of oxygen. I quickly remote my pod and pick us both up in the nick of time.
