Exploring ruins, learning languages, with puzzles that have a Myst-like "tinkering" feel. Short but very satisfying!

Short mystery with simple mechanics. The FMV acting is hammy, but very charming, like a dinner mystery theatre. I liked it!

Sims, but you can be a stranded space pirate.

I like how the difficulty settings can be adjusted at any time, and the randomness as well, so you can have just the experience you're in the mood to have for that session. The UI is a bit tricky to get used to, but the modding community is active and does quality work. I recommend modding it with "Pick Up and Haul" and "Stabilize Here" to relieve two of my biggest UI pain points.

This is not a happy game. You're going to die and the game's gonna try and make you feel bad about it. Just get prepared to fail, determine to keep going anyway, and you'll be where the game is aiming for your mind to be. (It's a great exercise for perfectionists like myself.)

If you want a game that plays like a Brecht theatrical production, if you've wanted playable Russian literature, if you've had enough of our own plague and would like to play with a magical pretend plague for awhile, come join Artemy on his no good very bad fortnight in his hometown. These indie developers are creative and witty, and they're worth your time!

Haunting and gorgeous music and spritework. If you like exploration games with meta-UI elements/puzzles, this is your jam. Thoughtful and kind and I'm glad for the time I spent playing it.

(Only downside: running this on a shared Windows login -- even if you're on separate Steam accounts -- means only 1 person can play it at a time without having to wipe out game data, and it took awhile to reset it so I could play after a family member did.)

Great story. Play it at home when it's quiet and you won't be bothered for a couple of hours -- you can do this in a sitting and the atmosphere you get from it is amazing. (I promise: no jump scares. I can't promise you won't feel scared tho.) ;)

I like it! The fun is in coming up with game titles for your Pirate-Cyberpunk RPG. It's just the right amount of cheeky with gamin history, and if you know your gaming history you'll do quite well. The mid-to-late-game mechanics are a little non-intuitive, and late-game cash flow can bankrupt you quick if you're not paying attention. But if you're stuck, there are plenty of guides out there. The devs seem like good folk and it's worth supporting this indie!

Not bad for a color-matching hooray-you're-talented brain-numbing agent. I wouldn't mind having it on my phone rather than on my desktop -- it's more suited to passing the time than sitting down and gaming. I do like the soundtrack that's in a constant state of "Amen Break".

I am actually recommending an RTS! Eufloria is deceptively simple: colonize all the asteroids with the seeds from your trees. But all other trees are hostile to you. Take them out and rule the universe!

Okay yes, this game completely comforts the "make everything one color" itch. But I like it for its replayability, soothing sounds, and unique combat. Its learning curve in story mode is just about perfect. It's definitely not an easy game, but it's one I don't mind losing now and then, cause you can just try again with a new color. ;)

Big flaw though: some of the colors look too much alike, and it's confusing when you're royal blue playing against electric blue, for example. The game does have a setting to add shapes for the color blind, but this isn't going to help you much when encountering rogue seeds on unclaimed asteroids.

It's a Bethesda title, what else can I say. ;) You're in for some brutal combat, but also a rich open world that rewards the curious explorer. It's a world worth exploring at least once. (That said, I've never actually finished this game. I'm not very good at FPS combat, even with Fallout 3's VATS system, which can be total Easy Mode. I can't fault the game for my poor gaming skills though.) ;)
