Its all very OK. unlike the first one i feel like the combat is mid at best. its a little slower then the first surge. However the world looks nice and I love the way they changed the energy system with the healing. However its weakest part is its world/Level design.

I thank the devs for trying a more open world, but it is a slog to get around. It has terrible direction for the player. if your going to have an open world like this with no map, you HAVE to be able to design the world in a way that makes landmarks that grab the players attention. It tries this, but doesn't do the best job of it. So bad so i ended up in an area with harder mobs then i should have been. I finish the area, kill the boss, then get to the next with incredibly weaker enemies. come to find out, I had made it to the 2nd lvl before I was suppose to. I blew through what was actually the first stage in less then an hour thanks to how over powered I was at that point, but that shouldn't have happened if they were doing the lvl design right.

After that i ended up wondering around aimlessly for nearly a week before giving up and just watching a walkthrough on where i needed to go next.

When the game was all said and done, it felt incredibly OK. OK combat, OK story, and terrible lvl design. Which was a shame cause I loved the first "Surge" so much I bought the DLC and played the game like 5 times. Now that I'm done with this though, I'll probably never play again.

Final Score for me
6 out of 10

You would do best to catch it on sale like i did (for me 10$ with all DLC) or play it on a "Family Sharing" account if you know someone that owns it.
