Pretty fun although the challenge is mostly gone during the later stages of the game.

A very faithful rendition of probably the most famous single detective mystery story. Gameplay is basic (mostly walking with puzzles that for the most part do not overly tax the mind) and the hint system makes sure you're never completely lost. The entire thing is retold in a modern setting, which does give some interesting impact to the tale.
But the mystery that still remains.
Who the heck is driving the train and why were they never under suspicion...?

With a better plot, more interesting worldbuilding, more interesting and compelling characters, and far more enjoyment than anything J. K. Blackmold ever made, the game is good.

Honestly I think everyone should play a game like this at least once in their lives. It does a great job of depicting just how hard it is to be a leader, trying to keep the powerful from toppling you, whilst avoiding disappointing the people who vote for you, whilst avoiding alienating the politicians who support you.
Game's very well done, almost any path is open to you whether you want to try and become dictator for life, create a socialist utopia, or anything in between.

I like it a lot. Probably the best Sherlock Holmes game since Crime and Punishments in my opinion.

I have seen some people say it's worse than the original, but I disagree. The difference is that the original is a point and click puzzle game, whilst in this they have remade it into a detective game in line with Frogwares more recent games. You got the classic Holmes skills of imagination, analysis and the ole mind palace rather than combining random items to make an improbable solution to an easy problem. I like this.

Plot-wise it's pretty much the same as the original, with the main additions being references to Chapter One. Given the implications, it suggests this game happens not longer after the ending of that one.

Good Stuff
- Reworked mind palace. No longer is it blindly bashing clues together to make deductions appear, you now have the chance to combine evidence to reach conclusions instead.
- Plenty of detectiving, and none of the random, pointless, irritating, janky, useless, worthless, frustrating, poorly conceived, farcical attempts at "minigames" that the previous games since Devil's Daughter have forced upon us like a drunk man forty years your senior trying to force a kiss on you in the pub car park. No more do you have to spam random letters to make boy run into a wall when trying to chase a man down the street. You are free of the burden of having to awkwardly try and shoot tiny bits of armour and the world's most hyperactive moron to appease your imaginary friend. It's almost all just good detectiving (except the very last scene which has a few QTE's in for no reason ):).
- Very atmospheric. Creepy and discomforting without going full-on horror.
- DLC cases are very good albeit very short. Worth buying on sale but too little content for full price.
The Less Good
- Confrontation system. I like it in principle [use evidence to counter people's claims] but it's not always clear what evidence goes when (you can know how to present your case but get it wrong because the game wants you to present it differently).
- There's no character profile system. When some characters are introduced in very early and not mentioned again for hours, it's hard to recall exactly who they are or what they did.
- The pinning evidence system needs more clarity. I'll be fair, to me it made a decent amount of sense. You have to pin a piece of evidence so you can ask people questions about it and Holmes knows what you're looking for in certain situations. Evidence that benefits from pinning comes with a pinning logo on it so you know what to do with it. However, this isn't well explained and I've seen a lot of people suffer from it.

A good entry in the Spirit Hunter series, although still not as good as the original. The "new" "feature" of 2d side-scroller sections isn't really much of anything except a faster way to get between locations over the slow, manual, step by step method of previous entries.
They've almost completely removed the creepy events that happen when you wave your flashlight around. There's a occasional ones when you interact with objects and rare ones in loading screens if you keep them turned on. So the atmosphere is less tense than previous games.
I do appreciate the story though. Each chapter is a well-made story in itself, and the overarching plot is well-paced throughout the chapters, giving hints and warnings at each step so you never forget why you're doing what you're doing, or feeling like nothing's going on with it.

Quite short but Valve-quality level stuff. I'm amazed by both the gameplay and the fact it's free.

Interview a bunch of people in various states of insanity in an attempt to help them deal with their issues whilst also trying to work out which one killed your predecessor.
It's fun, although the free-form question style does make it a challenge to find some answers. i personally suggest liberally using the hint system.

Light-hearted, humorous VN that follows the misadventures of a comically unfortunate detective. It's not really a detective game, but it's a pretty good story.
It's important to note that the game was designed to be played using a controller, including minigames designed as such. It is possible to play on keyboard but for some reason the menu button is backspace.
