Thick shades of starship troopers for the most part and a slice of terminator future war when fighting the automatons.
The multiple currencies and tech trees for ship, support, weapons, cosmetics and special abilities take some getting used to, but help stratify the pacing .... I guess.
the directional sequence patterns recall beat 'em ups on the Amiga.
The satisfaction of calling down special weapons from orbit never wanes.

Happy physics, minimalist controls. Some SuperSkidmarks and Micromachines vibes with perfectionist repetition and chaos. The music is well pitched (hurrr) and non-intrusive, I had the game alt-tabbed for a while with the menu music playing in the background for maybe an hour and it was pleasantly relaxing. The island map linking the level hubs allows some playful exploration and messing about, would love some more interaction/easter eggs/ramping off things into the void and hitting invisible coin boxes.
I'm playing on keyboard for masochism, so missing the finesse of drift control.

Has a nice mix of references to each of the movies (Mad Mad 2 and Fury Road), while being it's own thing. Driving with the keyboard is a little janky, I should use a pad for that.

Hard to put down. Worth the money.
May have taken some inspiration from Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, FTL and Locoroco amongst others combined with great execution and balance make it a joy.

Coming to it late having spent many hours in FO3 and FO:NV, it's an improvement over the previous games. The settlements don't distract once they're up and running. Weapons are so-so so far. Uncapped levelling is a great addition. Prettyier with more story, though lacking the edge of FO:NV.

Saturday morning cartoons meets 80s movie tropes with some enjoyable blasting.
Doesn't take itself seriously at all, is well paced and has just enough content to leave you satisfied.

Well, Ray used to be on the road as a trucker, and that's what truckers do! They're drivin' along, and they've got deadlines to meet... they don't wanna pull in and... park the truck, walk in, take a pee in the toilet, then go back out and get on the road... they just have an old jug and they... put their bird in it, have a pee, cap it off, and once it's full they just drill the fnckin' thing out on the highway!
I mean, I don't agree with it, I see where they're comin' from, trying to make their deadlines, but... Ray's been firing them all over the park like he's still drivin' a truck!
