MOLEK-SYNTEZ is a great game but I think its a better learning tool for programming than chemistry as the synthetic routes taken to get to the target molecule are unconventional and in most cases metaphysical in nature. It does however do a relatively good job at teaching atom economy in an abstract way! Zach-likes are great because they actively demonstrate and challenge you to come up with multiple solutions to a problem. There are so many different ways to look at in terms of making them more efficient - I love how ridiculously slow the 1 emitter solutions are when you play back the GIFs and videos posted online.

Well yes, Curious Mercurius, that was my point. Maybe Phill was being rhetorical, But Phill isn't the only poster here who imagines that there's the slightest chance this game might teach realistic pharmacology. To make my point a different way, I know a bit about psychopharm, and a game could be made about how to manufacture variations of lithium, how lithium carbonate differs from lithium citrate, and experiment on virtual patients, etc.. STILL a game to teach that synthesis would still be a nightmare liability. I'm just observing there is no chance. BTW DMT is easily extracted from many plants, no synthesis, just an acid-base extraction needed. ;) Somehow I don't think there will be a game about that, either!

cuvtixo,
This game is 'sort of' about chemistry - drugs are also about pharmacology. You could have a perfectly common hormone, add an -OH group and it turns your consciousness into a smoothie. You can design whatever chemical atrocity you want, the pharmacological effects are a different story.
If you really wanted to learn how to cook meth or synthesise DMT you wouldn't go looking for that information in a puzzle game anyway.

Um, you do see how a game that teaches how to make designer drugs is a problem, right? I mean, shouldn't that be almost painfully obvious you wouldn't learn chemistry from this? Otherwise it's a nice review. Thanks. :steamsalty: :steamhappy:
