DREDGE is a beautiful open world fishing adventure with a story shrouded in mystery. Set in a world made up of several regions, it offers a great balance of open sea voyaging and island hopping to discover different sea creatures and meet intriguing characters.

Whether it's dropping a line by the rocks, trawling in the deep blue, or dropping crab pots, DREDGE features different ways to catch a wide variety of creatures. After organising your catch into your cargo Tetris-style, it's ready to be sold and invested into better equipment and upgrades for your boat. And of course, like the game's title suggests, you can also dredge to find treasures and valuables to sell, crafting materials needed for upgrades, and research parts needed for unlocking equipment with better stats or that allow you to catch new types of fish.

It's not always as simple as that though. With the game's day/night cycle comes the challenge of hunting nocturnal creatures. As darkness falls, the ambience of the game completely changes to that of a survival horror and suddenly you're the one being hunted. As you battle fatigue and paranoia, hallucinations fog your mind and the sounds of whatever horrors are lurking begin to close in. It often presents the crucial decision - do you seek immediate refuge? Or do you risk it all and reap the rewards?

You can expect 10 or so hours of content in a typical playthrough, while at the time of writing this I've clocked in 17 hours at a leisurely pace with mostly aberrations left to catch and some equipment yet to be fully upgraded. I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing DREDGE, all of which was done on my Steam Deck where it has ran flawlessly, and so I can definitely recommend playing this game :)
