This game is a huge meh. Same old Far Cry experience, except it's even worse this time.

My only problem with FC5 was that it was too short. Well this game is the exact opposite. The game is too long for how little progression it has. You unlock access to gear by leveling up, until level 4, which you can easily get in the first area you complete, which took me around 15-20 hours. After that there are still 2 areas to do, but you've already maxed out your gear. By the time I finished the game I was level 18, so I basically spent 70% of the game with nothing to progress towards.

The map is huge, but there's really nothing to do if I'm honest. Other than quests, your only activities are capturing bases, checkpoints (which are just very small bases), chasing down supply drops and a couple of "races" and 4 aniamls you hunt down for gear.

You also unlock weapons and gear by collecting crates all around the map, which I stopped doing around halfway through the game, because there was nothing left to unlock.

They got rid of the perk system, so now the only way to unlock abilities is to pick and choose which clothes give you which bonuses, which is very limiting. Weapon modding is still a thing, but just like your gear, there's not much to mix up about it. If you want to 1 shot kill enemies you're gonna have to pick armor piercing ammo for all of your guns, making all the other types useless.

The game is not worth 60€, but I'm not sure if it was even worth the 10€ I paid for it.

After all these years the devs are still giving us free updates and in my opinion they've surpassed the expectations they set 8 years ago. There's a lot to do in the game now and they keep adding more and more stuff.
If you don't mind the repetitiveness of the core gameplay loop of mining stuff, and refilling your gear then I think it's an amazing game.

One of my favourite games as a kid. Not up to today's standards though, but it's a blast from the past.

This is one of my favourite games. I always come back to it and play through.
The game is quite short, you can complete it in around 5 hours, and a couple more to max out the car, that is if your game doesn't break while playing. It's full of bugs, many of which just literally force you to start again from scratch. The game is fun and has a vibe that I haven't found any other game that I could even compare to.

The sad part is, that the bugs will never get fixed, because the developer no longer has access to the game. The publisher, Excalibur Games wanted to make a sequel instead, but Minskworks refused so he could finish this, so they just straight up ripped off Jalopy and made a game so bad that it's not even on Steam anymore.
Check out Minskworks' other game instead, Landlord's Super so that maybe one day we can get a "sequel" to Jalopy.

Used to be the best BR, now it's just another EA cash grab. Servers are still trash after 15 seasons and the game breaks after every update. All the devs do is add more and more collection events to get your money.

Early Access Review
Great game with a lot of potential. It's mix between Jalopy and House Flipper if I had to somehow describe it.
The game is slowly getting more and more content, but it's still early access so there are still lots of bugs, but these are actively getting fixed. The dev is very active on discord and very helpful too.

To me it was worth the money. Everytime there is an update I come back and play through the whole game, which can take a good 10+ hours if you want it to be perfect.
For those that were mad that there's only one house, the new roadmap says that you'll be able to build and sell more houses, so there'll be plenty of more content and gameplay.

The game is amazing, and it is the most fun I've ever had in a shooter. It's a timeless classic. For that, I recommend this game, but Valve has mistreated this game for too many years to just turn a blind eye to it,

Valve has pretty much abandoned this game. They only come back a couple of times a year, add some content that the community made (maps and cosmetics), release some cases and unusual effect and then expect the players to throw their money at the screen. The last time they added a weapon or anything meaningful to the game was in 2017 in the Jungle Inferno update. That was the last major update this game recieved.

We were promised an "Update sized update" in 2023, which they quickly back tracked on and changed to a "Holiday sized update".

They still refuse to add any competent anti cheat, even after years of the game getting botted.

As a bandaid fix to the botting problem (which they finally fixed in 2023 after years of begging from the community) back in 2020, F2P accounts have lost their ability to use the chat, or any of the ingame commands, which are in my opinion a pretty significant part of the game, and part of a lot of this game's memes and charm.

In my opinion the only reason Valve still keeps TF2 "alive" is so they can try and sell the players more cases, but it's obvious that they don't actually care about the game anymore.
